I finally picked this up yesterday after searching 3 Best Buys and 3 Gamestops. I got the last copy at one of the Gamestops. So far, it's sooooo much fun. I haven't been this excited about a "silly" game since PaRappa the Rapper.

what is sad is the first thing I said when I sat down to play this game with some of my buddies today, was "PixyJunket will love this game" it is sad that I know the videogame preferneces of someone I never met more than my "real" friends

For those of you that want another look at "Katamari Damacy", here's an excerpt from my partner's review of the game:
There are some games out there that are just damn strange. Like a moth to light I'm attracted to these strange games. So when I had heard of the concept of Katamari Damacy I immediately knew I was going to have to give this game a shot. I mean, get this concept: Your father, the King of all Cosmos, went nuts one day and destroyed all of the stars in the sky. Its up to you, the Prince of all the Cosmos, to take your "Katamari" (some sort of sticky ball), and go collect a bunch of crap into a ball to make new stars. Think that sounds weird? Well, the game has many, many more quirks than the main story concept. This game is so weird, that I'm not going to do my usual breakdown to review the game. I'll simply talk about what makes the game so damn weird and why its so enjoyable.

I loved the idea when i saw it ealier this year and grabbed it at work. Had the co-workers and some other pre-order it because i knew that we were not going to get to many if no one did. Was happy to see us get in around 15 copies of it on release day.
I tell so many people about it at work, made a little display for it and those that have bought it have come back telling me how much they love it.... always nice to see.

Just wanted to revive this thread. I got this game last weekend, and just finished it. Great game, though kinda short. I've heart that KD2 is in development, and should come out in Japan in 2005. Hope it makes it here, too.

who actually made this game was it namco, becuase I think that they should make KD2 into a DS game with touch screen controls and/or blowing into the mic to move your kattamari

While I think that the controls for this game on the PS2 left a little something to be desired, especially with the sometimes bad camera, I don't think blowing on a controller to move the katamari will be an improvement.

finally picked up my own copy of this at work. a playstation rep gave the ok to replace the Need for Speed Underground 2 we had in the demo machine with Katamari Damacy
so I hope this will expose people more to this quirky but fun game.

is this game rare or something? there is a copy going on ebay for $28 plus shipping.

I think it can be hard to find for some people. Best Buy only had one of these in the back the day it was released when I got mine. I don't think it's the type of game stores buy deep on.

You will seriously kick yourself in the future if you don't pick up this game. It is insane how fun this thing is. I beat it last weekend, but my scores were horrible, so of course I'll be going back thru.

Back at the beginning of November after I had gotten a lot of credit at BBV from the DVD thing, I bought this game for $20 and sold it on eBay for $32 shipped.
I was just hoping to break even on it.

Yeah, that's all kinds of disturbing. I'm just hoping it's an ad for the sequel coming next year.
