Do the X-Box games look...
A lot better than PS2 games on a non-HD T.V.? I may get one and trade in my PS2 and I wanted to know how much better they look. Just barely better or a lot better? Any comments would be helpfull.

don't you have any friends w/ x-boxes? go make the comparison yourself. also, games can only look so good on an analog tv. if u just want an x-box for the pretty graphics, i don't think you should be playing videogames.

Usually a smoother frame rate as well. Also if the game is developed with the Xbox in mind it should have way better textures. If you can live without PS2 exclusives, it is a no brainer.

Only games that may not are ones designed for the PS2 and ported over. Any game that is designed for the Xbox is going to look much better.
After playing the GameCube and Xbox for so long the jaggies on the PS2 bug the hell out of me.

Thanks for the comments. I thought the games might look a little cleaner on the X-Box. Plus shorter load times and the built in Hard Drive to save game files. I do have another question though. How do you get your own songs on the X-Box for the custom music soundtrack? Copy them onto a cd and load it into the box or do I have to have a computer and send them over via the lan card?

Most xbox exclusive titles look much better than typical PS2 titles because they were developed to really push the xbox hardware.
But, multiplatform games are usually developed on PS2 and then ported to the other consoles, so they don't use the full capabilities of the xbox. Multiplatform games usually look a little better on xbox, but not enough that I'd recommend trading in a PS2 just for the graphics improvements. esp. if you're running on a small non-HD TV.
The most important issue should be looking at which system has the games that you want to play. Look at the current and future exclusives, then decide which system lets you play the games you want the most.
Also, system trade-ins are usually a bad idea anyway, since you don't get much in trade value. If you decide to get an xbox, I'd say to just buy it as a 2nd system.

I like the X-Box titles a little more now and that is the reason I am thinking about getting rid of my PS2. The only game on the PS2 that I want to play is GTA: SA and that title in a year will most likely appear on the X-Box. The big box this year is coming out with Fable, Halo 2, and some other A list titles. Not to mention Halo, Knights of the old Republic, Dead or Alive, and Ninja Gaidan. I dont have the free time to play two systems and I would always get the X-Box ones over the PS2 ones for the cross platform games. I would trade in my PS2 and 6 or so games and all the controllers and stuff so I am hoping that it might be an even swap so no money out of my pocket.
Also does the X-Box do a good job at playing DVD movies? While not a killer for me it is nice to be able to watch them for the ease of use.

X-box has definately been bringing out the winners recently, with the exception of GTA. I had a friend hook up his PS2 to my system and there are some games where it is a big difference, and some where it isn't too big a deal.

I also dont have a friend who has an X-Box so I really cant see how much better the games look. They have a crappy old tv setup at Gamestop for the X-Box so that doesn't help me at all. If I can get enough in the trade for all my PS2 stuff I will do the deal.

Most multiplatform games either look a little better on the Xbox, or a lot better on it. I recently compared Spiderman 2, and while it wasn't gigantic, there were plenty of differences and I thought the Xbox version looked a lot better overall. Still, there are some PS2-exclusive games that look pretty amazing (Ratchet & Clank, Champions of Norrath, Sly 2)

I had both for a while as did the brother-in-law and two other friends. The consesus quikly turned into, for all of us, that if a game was for both platforms, we picked up the XBOX version. The PS2 turned into a console only for the exclusives. In the beginning, it not only was worth it, but the console that got most of mine time. But now, I have gotten rid of it and don't miss it at all, with the exception of Silent Hill 3, which I luckily could pick up for the PC.
As mentioned, Media Center by itself (for me) is almost a deal breaker alone. It is really nice to to put my non Live games on the hard drive. I wish I could do the same for my DVD's, but stoarge space isn't quite there yet, even for my most watched DVD's.

I dont have any friends with an XBox and that is a main reason I will get one. I would rather play the exclusive games on the Box than the ones coming out on the PS2. The new GTA game will make its way on the Box sometime next year so I can wait until than to pick that one up.

Most look better, though there are some exceptions (i.e. one of the Need for Speed games that was ported to the GC and X-box by a company other than the original developer and looked a lot worse than the PS2 version).
