Acclaim bankrupt!

Hmm, I remember them from the NES days. They had some good stuff then (Wizards & Warriors, Double Dragon 2), but also a lot of crap (Rambo). I think at some point they gobbled up LJN, who had some of the most horrid licensed games out there (Jaws, Nightmare on Elm Street, Back to the Future). Honestly I'm surprised they made it this long.

DRG, anything good Acclaim's name was on during the NES/SNES days was probably something they merely published. Case in point.. Wizards & Warriors was developed by Rare, Double Dragon 2 by Technos.

I can't even feel sorry for the lost jobs. They'd still have them if they hadn't been dumping out such poor games.

Nope, that game is 100% REAL. I believe they have multiple games on the GBA too lol.
I'm kinda upset about them going bankrupt, although like others, I can't remember the last Acclaim game I actually liked (let alone bought). So I guess making crappy games catches up to ya sooner or later.

Bankruptcy doesn't mean the company's gone, its assets just go to its creditors after some arbitration, unless the current owner pulls together some financing during the bankruptcy proceedings. Worst case scenario is the company gets sold off piece by piece.

Looks like they've got one more winner coming out before they close doors:
