Looks good, but is anyone else worried that the new developer will screw things up, or that with them rushing for a winter 2004 release will be a bad choice? Orginally I thought it was supposed to be a 2005 release.

The KOTOR 2 developers licensed everything from BioWare, so the gameplay should remain intact. Whether they can come up with an equally compelling story is another matter entirely...
In any case, I'm extremely excited about this game.
The homogenous nature of most Japanese RPGs had killed my interest in the genre until I played KOTOR last year. I loved the greater freedom of the light/dark dynamic and general customization aspects, if the game was still a bit too linear and the combat not as interactive as I'd like it to be.

I saw some video where, if I remember right, they said they weren't going to change stuff as much as add stuff.
I kinda had the sme experience as you Ralph. Japanese RPG's also turned me off to the genre but once I put the time into KOTOR I found it very addicting.

Super-weak trailer, guys.
Those scenes look like anything out of KOTOR 1. No apparent improvement in the graphics engine, and not a single visually distinctive scene.
The plot summary seemed thoroughly bland. One Jedi and his band must either stop the Dark Side - or join it... again, sounds close to KOTOR 1.
And the whole thing was dragged down by the announcer, who is pushing his voice so far into drama that it's laughable.

The first game was damn near perfect, so I'm sure the changes will be minimal. I'm on my 6th go round of the first and it's still fun so It'll be a blast to have a new story, planets, and characters to explore.

While only minor changes will be made graphically(i.e. more character animations and weather effects) they will be making some bigger changes to the UI. They want to make things less 'clustered', more streamlined so to speak from the one used in KOTOR 1. You will also have the ability to change weapons on the fly instead of having to go into the menu and equipping a different weapon....very cool. There will also be 6 new presitge classes to choose from; Jedi Master, Jedi Watchman, Jedi Weapon Master, Sith Lord, Sith Marauder, and Sith Assassin. They will also bring back some of the more significant NPC's from the first game, like HK-47. So, there's plenty of good stuff to look forward to.
Aside from tweaks here and there this is pretty much going to be the same looking game which is fine by me. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one and it looked and played well on the Xbox. If you have a fast PC with a nice graphics card then I would get the PC version if you're concerned about graphics. The higher resolutions really make a difference when compared to the Xbox. As long as the story is equally as good as the first one I'll be a happy gamer.

Talked to one of the makers at the Comic Con last week. He said there will be something like 60 new force powers and decisions you make REALLY affect your party members. Unlike the first game, your party members may not stick with you if they're good and you're dark.
