Are these older games runnable on Windows XP?

This thread inspired me to install and play Tie-Fighter for Win95. You can't run hardware acceleration, but damn if that game isn't as fun as ever.
I wonder why Lucasarts never revisited the series and followed up with a nextgen flight sim (unlike Rogue Squadron and Jedi Starfighter which were both quite arcadey).
