Anyone else tried Circus Maximus?

http://www.xbox.com/en-us/circusmaximus/default.htm

I was just trying to figure out if it was me or the game. In tournament mode I can't for the life of me get past the first "Deathmatch" race. The most I've ever gotten is about 3 kills (out of 5) and then one of the computer players out of nowhere will rocket up to 5 usually by killing the "people" I've been wearing down but they come in for the final kill.

Any hints/clues/suggestions or are other people running into the same thing?

I been playing the same game since I got it. It's very cool. I haven't encounter any problems with the game yet.

I LOVE CM!

You really have to choose the right chariot, horse and team for certain areas. Another good move is when using the strong hit which leaves you vulnerable as you wind up for the hit, start it away from the target and out of range of other players. As the character gets closer to the final swing then move your chariot in to make the hit without exposing your character to hits while winding up.

You can also hit the horses as they approach and still get points. Long range hitters like the Egyptian and his staff are great for taking players out. IIRC, the buttons are also pressure sensitive in this game so hitting hard will add power to the hits.

I haven't played in a while, but I don't remember getting stuck anywhere. Maybe I'll get the game out and try it again.

I had a feeling it was probably just me Oh well I'll try again, it's a fun game overall but I'm sick to death of that deathmatch (no pun intended ).

Keep up with the racers

learn how to keep the horses within a certain speed range without wearing them out. All the horse have differing speeds and stamina. i.e. zebras are very fast but only for short time.

Learn how to use the sharp turn buttons

power ups power ups power ups...especially speed, shield, and THROW.

learn hidden and not so hidden short cuts

Learn how to duck under branches and closing gates

defend yourself from attacks

attack others to get ahead

using your warrior to negotiate turns helps alot

Run over pedestrians for money

Stay away form Minotaur(sp?) if you can But once you unlock him he's a powerful warrior to have.

Learn how to look backwards while the computer drives so you can see them approaching you. As they get close your warrior watches them like a hawk.

Use the trash talk button to get others close to you to attack.
