I havn't been able to play computer games in a few years due to the overall crappiness of my computer. Which also means I have been absent from the PC gaming scene for a bit, and am very behind. But I'm getting a new computer one in a day or two and wonder what some good games would be to test out the power of my machine?

If your into first person shooters, I would get Farcry or Unreal Tournament 2004. Also, I would check out the Vulcan Demo on nvidia's site.l

Another vote for trying Farcry. Very taxing for most people's setup.

Far Cry is definately the way to go right now. And before too long it looks like Splinter Cell 3 will be the ultimate game as far as graphics go.

Well this is the list that PCGamer uses to test grpahics cards and new PC systems: Quake III, unreal Tournament 20003, Splinter Cell, Halo, and Far Cry. Some of the games don't have their own benchmark tests so Fraps Utility is a application that should be able to record the data while your playing the game.
