I picked up the Logitech Cordless Action controller tonight (paid $39.99 at BB). All I can say is, WOW! This is hands down one of the best add ons that I have ever bought. It's easy to install, easy to use, and it works GREAT!

I got it mainly for when my nieces come over and want to play games so they don't trip over the wires anymore. So for me it's a "child proofing" investment.

Actually it's such a good product that I'm thinking of buying a second one eventually!.

Fry's has both an Xbox and PS2 wireless controller for 20 bucks each. You can go to latimes.com if you live in the LA area to see the ad (go to print ads). Not logitech, though. Otherwise, the usual 5 dollar coupon at BB is the way to go.

just fyi, i checked pricegrabber a couple weeks ago, and justdeals had logitech refurbs for $19.xx each. i grabbed 2 of them, and they're great. no complaints at all..

price has gone up ($23.xx), but it's still a great deal, imo...

PSM Magazine just reviewed the Logitech Cordless Action Controller (Sept 2004/Issue 88). They gave it a 9 out of 10 and called it, "simply the best PS2 pad yet conceived".

now i'm confused.. which controller is the newer of the 2 - the normal one, or the 'action' (the 'action' is the cheaper of the 2)..

same with the xbox models.. confusing..

New wireless PS2 Controller = Logitech Wireless Action Controller
New wireless Xbox Controller = Logitech Wireless Precision Controller

yes, it is confusing. And the newer controllers are smaller, cheaper, run longer on half the numbers of batteries and are just better.

decker - thanks for clearing that up..

how about the cords? one thing that bugged me about the original ps2 logitech wireless was the length of the cord on the sensor. just seemed really unnecessary..

There is no cord on the Logitech Wireless Action Controller sensor. It plugs right into the PS2 and looks like a memory card.

Here's a pic of the controller and sensor:

Anyone have any success using more than one of these? I know that there's a button to change channels, but I'm wondering how if the receiver and controller are somehow tied to each other.

Thanks for the info on that Buy.com deal. I hated my little Pelican wireless Chameleon and now I can give it to my daughter to play with and keep a real controller for myself. Cool.

I still see the Xbox version for 40 at Walmart. Which is ten bucks off the "normal" retail price I see everywhere else.

I was wondering about that myself. Anyone know if it's possible to use two of these things simultaneously?

For the Precision controller, there is a button on top of the receiver unit that will change frequencies and syncs up with the controller. I'm certain you can use two of them at one time.

Here's a picture I took where you can see the frequency switch button on top

Buy.com now has the X-Box version (which retails for $10 more than the PS2 version) for only $38.60 with free shipping. If you buy it with a game you can get the rebates I listed above.

Is that better, young?

Thanks for the buy.com links. I need one for both the Xbox and the PS2. That's $69.45 total, shipped for free.

How do these work with a wireless B game adapter going to a G router? I have not had any problems with my phone while playing either PS2 or Live games. I am waiting on the new Hip Gear Blue Tooth XBox controller, but am thinking about one of these for my PS2, but am afraid of messing up my wireless system.

Anyway to get a wireless headset for the PS2?

The logitech wireless controllers run at 2.4Ghz. Wireless B and G devices also run at 2.4Ghz. The number of available channels on the 2.4Ghz frequency spec is pretty limited too... so there's definitely potential for interference issues. However, in practice I haven't seen it cause any problems. I've run a wireless B router and 2 logitech xbox controllers in the same room without problems for a long time now.
