Anyone else playing this puppy? I just started it earlier, and have put ~1:30 into it so far. I really like what I have played so far, pretty challenging at the beginning. Can't beat it for $20 at Best Buy this week.

Yeah I think it is great. I too picked it up although I've only played one round. It is sometimes hard to see and putting is much less accurate. It is more of a guess then anything else.

Here's something I couldn't find - how do you switch from an "auto" shot to a "manual" shot? I played a practice round and couldn't figure it out.
Just got it yesterday. It reminds me a lot of the GBC version, but this time a LOT more stuff to read. Sometimes you just want to play a round of golf without all the conversations, you know?

I like it. It's not the best golf sim, but it is good enough. I thought the first course was way too easy. I played the first tournament without ever having gone to the practice range, and shot a 71 and won the thing. Then I defended my title, and shot a 66. I'm guessing the courses and competition will get tougher as I get further.
I'm also not sure I really care for the RPG aspects. I really don't want to have to run around talking to people in a golf game.

$20 at Best Buy?!
Considering Mario Golf on GC was one of my most played games last year, I'm ALL over this one.
If it's like the GC one, to do a manual swing hit A first to start the swing, then B to select your power instead of A. If that doesn't work, RTFM.

Yep, hit A - B - A for manual shot.
First practice round I shot a -2, then I shot a +1 in the first tournament to win by 2 strokes.

just bought this yesterday. so far i like it. but the first time i turned on the game, i was forced into the rpg mode with creating a character name, introductions, etc. which took forever to sit through. so yah there's a lot of b.s. to wade through before you even start playing.

I haven't even touched the story mode. I've been unlocking the Star Characters first. It is a great game but I wish the wireless adapter was already out stateside. Has anyone linked it to Mario Golf GCN yet?

I'm enjoying it so far. The golf aspets took some time to get used, it seemed the ball was too bouncy and wild at times. But, one I got used to it, it is fine. I liked the RPG aspets of Mario Tennis, so although I haven't gone far in this yet, I'm looking forward to it.

The Desert course is tough. Lots of Cacti.
Someone help me here... It seems the higher level I get, the worse my basic drive is. When I started, it went nice and straight all the time, but now, my basic ball flight path arcs far to the right, then back to the middle. I've been spreading my skill points around, to be a balanced player, but now I'm thinking I should have put it all in distance.
How do you read the skills when you upgrade them? Some are blue, some yellow, some red, what is good and what is bad???

So far:
Singles Tourney:
Marion: -5
Palms: -3
Dunes: -7
Doubles:
Marion -4
I absolutely hate playing doubles with the computer. She can hardly do anything right.
The game is getting challenging so it isn't that easy. It seems to have loads of replay value and does in fact use a three button swing.
Here's a hint. when you use manual mode you can add some spin right? If you hit the opposite button you will do a super spin.
If you want top spin hit A - B instead of A - A and B - A instead of B - B for backspin.

I just linked it with Mario Golf: Toadstool and it unlocked a bunch of stuff. Not only is your GBA character playable on GCN but all his clubs and taunts get transferred.
It unlocked Waluigi as a playable in GBA and on top of that a bunch of extra course holes. I then beat the Lakitu Cup (GCN) with my character and it then unlocked Luigi as playable in GBA and even more holes. My experience transferred as well. Sweet little bonus(es).

I haven't unlocked any new courses for the GCN yet. It let's you play your leveled up GBA character and IGN has said it unlocks a secret character (GCN) if you beat the GBA. The only courses getting unlocked are ones for the GBA. I now have unlocked Luigi, Waluigi and Wario for connecting as well as tons of experience (I started out as level 1 yesterday and now I'm at 13 with my slut counterpart is level 10).
