You'd LOOK like a kid just by holding a DS? Wow.. You've found the fountain of youth.

Hey if the DS has fun games, that's all I care about. If bozo standing next to me thinks "what a kid" - who cares. I"m having fun. Isn't that what gaming is about?

I don't know...Seeing an adult (20+) playing a gameboy in my eyes just looks silly. When you look around you usually see kiddies playing gameboy. But whatever, it's your life....

I don't see how that would be different than an adult playing a PSP.. they are the exact same thing.

Totally. Anyone that's going to think someone is lame for playing games isn't a gamer. They're not going to know, as gamers do that the PSP is "cool and mature" and that the DS is "kiddy."

Anyone that thinks that would think that the person was lame regardless of whether they were playing a PSP or DS.

And who gives a shit what someone like that thinks?

Seriously, what is wrong with people? I could even slide and give some credit that the original GBA looked a lot more like a toy, especially since most of them were brightly colored.. but the SP and DS certainly look no less a toy than the PSP, they're all three "tech-savvy" looking. Plus, as you said, if you're really concerned with what some stranger thinks about you on a plane you've got much more serious issues to deal with. Furthermore, if you're concerned with what some stranger thinks about you on a plane, and you think the PSP will maintain your "image," you've got detrimental issues to deal with.

But regardless when you're buying a cool new gadget or toy you want it to look cool (or at least I do). I mean how it plays is one thing but how it looks is completely another. People pay premiums all the time for ipods over other MP3 players because of the form factor, style, and functionality. The GBA and DS are not "sexy" looking. The GBA:SP is marginally better but the PSP just screams to be stared at. You're kidding yourself if, all things being equal, you wouldn't rather have a sleek looking system over a clunky one.

Honestly, I really could care less whether it looked sexy. For instance, when picking cell phones I get whatevers a good buy and small enough to fit in my pocket. As long as it's not pink or something, I really don't care what it looks like.

The adults may not think I'm cool, but that would happen with a PSP, DS, or SP. The kids think I'm the coolest one on the plane though, I have no parents inflicting time limits on me...

If the games were equal then definitely sleek. But I'll take a clunky looking system with great games over a sleek one with crappy games any day. I know the DS will have some good games (though how many remains to be seen). I also know that the DS will close protecting the screen, that is a huge selling point looking at the scratched up screen of my GBA. I'll probably end up with a PSP at some point but I'll buy a DS the day it's out.

If you can't handle a mature discussion about a video game system perhaps this isn't the place for you. The rules are in place so the forum doesn't turn into a battleground. Your constant childish remarks are the kind that start pointless arguments.

I didn't say anything childish....eerrrr Never said "better, or SUCKS" THe point I was making was that you CAN'T say you like one over the other.

further more...nobody is fighting or bashing either one here.

You're right I don't want a battleground forum.

If it deeply disturbs you so much that you can't run around posting "NINTENDO SUCKS!!" in every thread without adding something intelligent to the discussion, I would suggest trying out www.gamefaqs.com or check out IGN's boards. You are very welcome to discuss your opinions in the appropriate threads as long as it's in a civilized manner, and not simply posted to elicit a rise out of people. Your constant comments about Nintendo add nothing to the threads they are posted in.

Some new info on the psp, apparently you won't be able to burn your own discs. Also mp3 play and battery life still unconfirmed.

Its going to use that crappy Atrac3 format. From experience that means you will have to import and convert all your MP3s and audio CDs to Atrac3 with Sonicstage, the worst music management system ever designed. You will basically put your CD in the drive. Click import and then get random kernel errors boxes poping up all the time as you bang your head on your desk. Its really a great piece of software.

Music is just a bonus feature though so I'm not going to loose sleep on that one. The battery life and price are still the big areas of concern. I'm just wondering how many more hours of battery life I will get from turning down the volume.
