I was thinking, a co-op Metroid could be pretty badass. If I had any friends.

Zero interest in multiplayer. I only know one other person who plays videogames, and he lives on the opposite coast. I hope they focus on the single-player game.

Don't know if y'all been voting for the bracket tournament on Gamefaqs.com. It's for "Best Game Ever" (whatever) and they're up to this gen consoles/PC. It was pretty funny-the other day Starcraft beat Halo. Metroid Prime is up against Half Life today. My point...vote.

I wouldn't touch GameFAQs with someone else's computer.

The new footage is looking good. The whole light/dark story sounds cool with the dimensional rift being created by you. The new weapons look sweet but no new visor info? God I want to play this...and holy shit...Metroid Prime Hunters: for the DS.

Okay, okay. The dark matter stuff looks AWESOME. I love the shot where it swallowed up that alien and made it more powerful. If done right, this could be so cool. Sort of how the X virus in Fusion could eat up another enemy and make it stronger, I loved that.
Dark Samus? My favorite part of the video was MULTIPLE LOCK ON MISSLES. |
Originally posted by Get Me Coffee I know....it would have been great in high school or college .....but now it doesn't. Love my Xbox Live. |
Originally posted by CreatureX I would disagree. Playing with friends in the same room still beats playing people over the net anytime. |
Been there done that! Multi player mode is worthless for me, have no friends that are into video games...wish it had some type of online gaming mode.

I could see an online Metroid. "Good game!" "Eat my shit asshat! I'm so high right now!" "Samus is so hot I'm jacking off to her right now!" |
C'mon guys....you got to find the right people to play with.
|
I know, I know.. I've met lots of cool peeps on Live :D
But you gotta admit, the above is pretty frequent. |
It is frequent! "I'm drunk, I'm so high"...but once you're all set with good people it fun.

SCREW ATTACK!! SCREW ATTACK!!
|
There's an interview on IGN.com that talks about Prime 2 a bit.
The game's length is said to be about the same as the first. The story will be told through the gameplay again, not dialouge/text. (YAY!) Screw attack, not a weapon, but used to wall jump. Screw attack in 3rd person mode because 1st person would make you ill. Light and Dark beams have limited ammo. Dark Samus isn't as prominent as the trailers make it out to be. Retro has worked hard to make the load times even shorter! |

Originally posted by flashburn Hooray on all counts, I guess. I am glad they are going for the same length as the first, as I thought it was perfect. Wasn't too short, to leave me wanting more, but wasn't long enough to bore me (could that even happen?). Then again, how is a screw attack not a weapon? It isn't much of an attack then, is it? Screw Attack, not much of an attack.. well the way I figure is they're naming the item after the classic item of course; but the screw attack as it is in the 2D games probably wouldn't work right (or well enough to make it a worthwhile item) in 3D, so they decided to use it for another purpose. |
I thought there'd be more love for Prime 2 around here. :(
There's a roundtable up on IGN.com now, they go into more details on the game. They explain that the weapons are used for more than attacking; the light beam turns things on while the dark beams turns them off, the light beam cause things to grow while the dark beam causes them to decay.. Now this I like, the multiplayer mode is not based on number of kills, but on a token system. Tokens are generated by various means including attacking other plays, but the key is that even if you scored the successful attack, anybody can pick up the token. It appears that they really are trying to create a game that isn't a typical deathmatch game, I'm glad to hear that. Some other bits I remember reading is that you can fire while using the grapple beam, this was added just for the multiplayer mode. The scan visor is used to upload viruses to other players suits that will disable weapons or items, cause controls to malfunction or other effects. They mentioned they had to work hard on Dark Samus as an enemy to make her as impressive as the huge five-story bosses they've been creating, and they think they've accomplished that. |

There are 2 different types of multiplayer, Deathmatch and Tokens. I honestly could care less about multiplayer, as I think with the ability to lock on, it will make for some uninteresting boredom. As long as the single player experience is up to par with the last title, I will be happy. |

The way I read the interview was that there was no direct kill to win mode. Maybe I misread. But I agree, 99% of this game has got to be the single player game, but from day one I've been interested in what they were going to do to make the multiplayer unique. Also, lock-on doesn't mean instant boredom.. your opponent will be moving, lock-on will not be 100%, plus morph ball, grapple beam, etc.
