Far Cry or Painkiller(PC)?

I'm looking to buy a good FPS and both of these have recieved great reviews from gamespy.com and gamespot.com. Both retail for 39.99. Reviews of Far Cry say it requires a 2 GHz processor, which I have. My question is to anyone who owns these games: which one has the better replay value and which one has the better online multiplayer?

Far Cry is by far a better game with more depth... Painkiller is more like Serious Sam - mindless and repetitive with no story. Far Cry is also way more advanced technically. You can bet that Painkiller will drop in price before Far Cry does.

I really enjoyed Far Cry. Tried the Painkiller demo and didn't really like it.

Have you tried the demos for either game? Both games each have 2 demos out for them. You should try them if you haven't. Might help you decide. The first Far Cry demo was a bit buggy though, the second one ran a lot more like the finished game.

Hey Robert, not sure if you made your purchase yet. But if you're looking for a great multiplayer shooter you should check out UT2k4. Let me know what you think, I'm hooked. If you've already bought something, enjoy.

I own the 3 "newer" FPS games (Far Cry, Painkiller, and UT2k4) and can will just say - Far Cry offers the superior singleplayer experience (one of the best) and UT2k4 by far has the best online aspect.

That said, Painkiller is the best stress manager of the bunch - you get a lot of bloody satisfaction and it's anything but a stressful game (not to say its easy, it's just not frustrating.)
