First PS3/Xbox 2 game shown (video included)

all this apparently is using the in-game engine. no pre-rendered stuff. http://unrealops.com/files/DarkSectorTeaser.wmv

I'll believe it when I see it running on an actual PS3 or Xbox 2. I don't know about the PS3, but ATI hasn't even taped out the graphics chip for the Xbox 2 yet.

Eh, nothing really special. Everything looks better when it is really dark. They need some light shots to really show off the graphical power.

Do they even have the dev kits out yet?

I doubt the validity of this.

Microsoft does. I doubt Sony does.

This is most likely being run on a PC (or group of PCs) that is meant to emulate what they think the Xbox2 and PS3 will be able to do. I doubt MS would allow them to show any game running on Xbox2 SDK without a huge press function to go allong with it.

It all depends on what impresses you the most.

Some people like detailed models with hi-res textures and fancy bump mapping. Brightly lit scenes will show that off the best.

Other people are more impressed by dynamic lighting effects and that's what this video seems to be designed to show off.

And still others (myself included) are more impressed by a good physics engine. I'm most excited about HL2 because of this. IMO, it's the one area of development in new games that has the most potential to alter gameplay.

Looks pretty good and, dark, and also, dark. It wasn't too exciting, though its just a quick demo, in the dark. I wouldn't be surprised if this is only a tech demo, with guys moving around, in the dark, and the game never comes out. I don't believe that the PS3 or X-Box 2 are this far in development to have a demo like this based on the info they've put out.

And am I the only one that thought the guy in the space suit looked like one of the marines from Starcraft in the CG's?

April fools?

Looks like it would be a cool game... if it ever comes out. Not as impressive as some of the PC titles that are gonna come out this year.
