First PSP game revealed!!!
The story is here. Not much in the way of screens or info but the quotes are pretty impressive. IGN has a screenshot at least of the Death Jr. character.
This is a very impressive quote:
"Polygon for polygon," he claimed, "PSP has more power than PS2," and it's apparently easier to develop for as well. "A huge number of effects that are given to you in software on PS2 are available in hardware on PSP."
Wonder what the battery life will be like!?

I have it. The movie looks good - like a first generation PS2 game, think Stretch Panic. The textures weren't detailed but there was some decent shading and some spell effects that were pretty good.
I seem to remember Death Jr. being touted last year for a normal console. Interesting he ended up on the PSP.
So it looks good for a first generation game, and since it's from a smaller developer, things can only look better when Sony, EA and Square/Enix start showing their titles.

jrutz - anyway you can host it?
Consider that this is running on the PSP Software emulator and is not only many times the size it will be on the PSP, but also filmed on a camcorder. Looks pretty good when you consider that.

My computer doesn't like to stream... always starts clipping. Anyways, found a downloadable link on a better quality vid:

Looks pretty sweet for a hand held.

while it's not particularly detailed, the lighting effects are pretty impressive.

holy crap, THAT'S from a portable?? That looks as good, if not better, than the graphics produced by the N64. From what I understand, the Game Boy Advanced is basically a SNES packaged in a portable size, correct? Is it even capable of graphics like this?

There are some screens from the Death Jr. game here which looks pretty good. Nice draw distance and texture work. Right now I would say it looks somewhere in between a PS1 and PS2 game. However the game is early and there is clearly potential in this little machine.
More impressive are the tech demos on IGN!! Even through they are a little dark, the character model is pretty incredible and the water is baldur's gate quality.

The PSP is supposedly capable of better graphics than the PS2 which would put it far ahead of the N64 - perhaps near Gamecube quality.

No, I wouldn't say it will exceed PS2 quality, note the lack of RAM to handle detailed textures. Think more on the lines of a portable Dreamcast and you get the idea. That's more realistic.

The PSP will run under two 32-bit MIPS R4000 microprocessors, described by SCE president Ken Kutaragi as each having 10 times the clock speed of the PlayStation’s CPU and the same amount of power as the PlayStation 2's CPU. One of the microprocessors will be used as the CPU, and the other will be utilized as an engine dedicated to handling media such as movies and music with its own 2MB of memory. Although the PSP's main memory will be 8MB, Kutaragi commented that it is an extraordinary volume for a handheld game console. In general, all the components used in the PSP are designed for low energy consumption since it is a portable device, and the microprocessors feature a low-voltage (1.2V) design.
The 32MB you commented on refers to a rumor that the RAM will be quadrupled, but it's not officially confirmed.

Nintendo better get busy because the movie looks fing awsome for a handheld console.
Way better then I ever thought.
GBA has no 3D games and the FPS they do have look like crap and are not really 3d Doom 1 looks better.
Nintendo will be dumb bringing out the DS if Sony has the PSP ready by this christmas.
When is the PSP coming out?
