I actually have a problem playing the German side on Multiplayer in Call of Duty. It doesn't really bother me, but sometimes it really does and I switch over to the Allies.
Call me stupid or whatever, but thats how I feel.

I think it's just a reflection of the absurd morals in this country in general. Sex/nudity are a huge taboo, but violence is A-ok.
The being disrespectful to veterans and people who lost loved ones in wars is an interesting side point though. I'd never thought of that. It doesn't bother me personally. I kind of see the games/movies as being a way to remember what happened, what our ancestors (or current soldiers) sacrificed for us etc. But it would be interesting to here what actual military folks and families of those lost think about this.

Its a tough call. I saw them show Battlefield Vietnam on the screen savers yesterday and they were talking about how you can play on the different sides, American or Vietnamese, and mentioned that you can use napalm in it. The older guy (who grew up during all of this) was questioning whether the American's can use Agent Orange or some of the other really nasty ones (which you can't) or if there are Vietnam civilians in it and if they can be killed. Hearing some of the discussion did make me think about it.
It hits closer to home with most people in that it is more recent and people feel very strongly about their opinions on who was right and wrong. Not to mention there are still a lot of people around that lived through this. As for the game, is it ok? I probably won't be playing it but thats because I'm not big on FPS games. I do know several people who were there as many of you do too and it didn't sound like it was that much fun. War is hell, but we get to relive it by making it fun. Should we really be enjoying the wars our parents fought? I haven't heard from any veteran that they were fun. The worlds a strange place
. I haven't played it but it would be interesting to see if the game portrays what actually happened. Now if they made a game called Duke Nukem goes to Vietnam, that would turn a lot of heads from the men in suits.
