Question about installing the Sims (pc)

I have the following games:

Double Deluxe
House Party
Unleashes
Hot Date

I installed them in that order (everythine went fine), but when I go to play it says I need the correct cd in the drive. I;ve tried EVERY one of the discs and it doesnt like any of them! WHich disc do I need to play? What order should I re-install them in?

I don't know the answer, but it seems that somebody else in this forum had a similar problem a while back. Try a search and see what that yields.

After so many add ons it seems like The Sims just doesn't want to work. My wife has The Sims, Livin Large, House Party and Unleashed. As soon as she got the last add on it just stopped working right. We can install all but the last one and it works fine but as soon as that last expansion is added it all goes to hell.

And that is one of the reason I prefer consoles to PCs and why my newest PC wasn't a gaming rig like my previous setup. I haven't bought a PC game since this crap but I've bought tons of XBOX, PS2 and GC games.

The last one you installed (hopfully tne newest expansion) should start the game fine. I've never run into a problem with any of the add-ons.

The release order for the expansions are supposed to be:

1. Livin' Large
2. House Party
3. Hot Date
4. Unleashed

You should probably install the expansions in that order.

Plus, Sims Double Deluxe already include both Livin' Large and House Party. The fact that you installed House Party separately again might have messed it up.

I think he's right. If you're having problems with the CD, try looking for a no-CD crack. I always use them because I like to keep my CDs stored away.

this worked for me.... try using the last installed cd. i kept putting in the Sims Deluxe cd and got that error. going to the support website shows tons of problems w/ the "not correct cd" error message. good luck.

Sims has been the only PC game where i had so much trouble trying to get them to work... i don't care how many add-ons are out there; i don't see why the order of install should be so critical.

i sort of binged on the sims - got the deluxe + 3 other add on's at the same time w/ no prior experience w/ the game. anyway, w/ all the problems i had trying to get the game to work, i've pretty much vowed to never get another Sims game again.
