How do you feel about walk-throughs? Any good sites for them?

Just curious as to whether or not people use walk-throughs? Additionally does anyone have some links for sites they know/like usually have good ones. I guess the main reason is I'm currently playing The Thing and while I've found a couple of "hints/cheats" there doesn't seem to be a complete walk-through anywhere. I guess overall it's linear enough that you don't really need it but I always enjoying looking at them to see if I missed anything

If it's not on gamefaqs, it probably doesn't exist.

GameFaqs and only when I'm stuck, and after I'm done on some games.

For videogame stuff, I basically only have 3 bookmarks

this forum
gamefaqs
and www.gamerankings.com

What do you all use for the latest news? And are there other good, non-juvenile forums, like this one?

Gamefaqs....*the* site for, well, game faqs.
General video game info sites, I have bookmarked:

here
Gamespot
IGN [yeah, I know]
Videogamereview.com

I'll hit a walkthrough/faq when I'm stuck and have tried repeatedly on my own. After beating a game, I'll check them for secrets or codes/cheats to just have fun with the game.

That's all I use too...

I figure gamerankings has all the ratings and links to reviews/previews. Gamefaqs has all the walkthroughs and game guides you'll ever need (even cheaper than those penny strategy guides ) and this forum has all the....err... gossip and "opinions"

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this one yet, but I like GameFAQs.

Exactly my thoughts. I wouldn't join their message board or anything! Seriously, their faqs list is uncanny. But I don't go there for anything else (especially for opinions on games).

And the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and now, 10th and 11th posts of the thread also.
So, every post except the first.

For games you really should add cheapassgamer.com and/or vgtalk.com to your list of bookmarks if you wanna find good gaming deals.

As for walkthroughs gamefaqs is the only one you need. I find walkthroughs ruin the game for me if I use them to "walk me through a game." But if I get stuck, and especially if it will cause me a lot of extra time and frustration if I can't figure something out, then I will use a walkthrough.

While you're at gamefaqs, check out the FAQ I wrote. It's for an old Commodore 64 game called Mission on Thunderhead.

I only hit the walkthroughs when I am really stuck and go where everyone else has mentioned, gamefaqs.
