Hard Drive for PS2?
What are people thinking about the Hard Drive? The one thing I wonder is if, I know nobody has heard anything about the PS3 that counts, but if the Hard Drive works with the PS3 too, that would be good. Otherwise, it's kind of expensive.

I have a strong feeling the new hard drive will be a waste of money and a failure unless multiple game companies are planning on supporting this drive with every game in development which is highly unlikely. Does anyone really care they are releasing this with Final Fantasy included on the drive? I would guess most people who wanted this game have it already....$100.00 is too much money for a system which is on it's way out in the near future. $50.00 would have been more understandable but I guess this is the cheapest they could do it. Oh well.....

I was going to buy it just for REutbreak, but now that I know that the game wont have voice chat, I will have to stick with LIVE, I just hope EA signs on, before this upcoming years sports titles

I wasn't interested in FFXI at all until I read the cover story in the latest OPM. It really looks good. But probably not $13 a month good.
I'm more interested in what the hard drive would do for SOCOM II, but at $99 it would have to offer something for other games or really add a LOT to SOCOM.

There are already a bunch of games that are signed up to use the hard drive to deliver exclusive content. Socom 2 and GT4 are two that come to mind immediately. Also, you can bet that any Sony first part games will use the hard drive for some content.
With that said, I will not be purchasing one. I need to save my money for PSP.

Well, considering that you cannot pre-order the drive from my work (Gamestop) anymore, I'd say it will do well. They already sold out of all allotted HDs. I, myself, am on the 'too little too late' bandwagon, and hate FF games, but thats just me.

I don't know that I would spend $100 on the hard drive at this point in time. However, thanks to the Final Fantasy Beta, I will be getting one of these for free from Sony.

i know socom II is going to have a bunch of new maps for the hard drive. It's going to have a new server as well for people with the hdd. This will create less lag (which sucks bad right now if you play socom, then you know). I also heard they are going to fix it so you can't use any of the glitches in socom II (which is a lot)...hope this is all true, if so it might be worth it....but
isn't ps3 due out in 2005? that's only 1 year away, or perhaps 1.5 years.
