GBA SP -- game saves??

how does the system save games??
can you only save during levels or can you save any time??

In paticular Tactic Ogre...

I'm debating about buy one thats why I've asked ??'s lately

It depends on the game. I don't know the answer for Tactics Ogre.

All games which have the ability to save games in progress (with the obvious exception of password-based saves) do so using memory built into the games themselves. In other words, save games are not saved to the SP unit itself.

Is there a web site that lists wether a game can save itself??

p.s. - Tactics Ogre (which I own) is definitely has the "save game feature."
