Madden 2004 defensive help

I consider myself a very solid player in Madden 2004, however, there are certain plays that I have difficulty defending. My biggest problems are:

1)Defending the route where the RBs stall (and remain un-highlighted for a few seconds) and then come out of the backfield (the RBs route is highlighted in blue on the play selection). If I dont personally checked the guy, the computer will leave him open.

2) I have huge problems defending play where the reciever (usually the two recievers closest to the sidelines on both ends)goes about 10-15 yards straight, slants in and then back out. Again the comoputer leaves the receiver wide open.

3) I also leave many holes when recievers (usually TEs and RBs) go up the middle for a pass.

I realize that I am choosing the wrong defensive plays.I have seen problem #2 be stopped outta the Nickel by others, but I pick the wrong play outta the nickel. My defense is set to Balanced and I mainly use the Quarter to defend the pass.

Thanx in advance for any suggestions.

1) use a zone defense
2) try bump and run to knock the receiver off there routes or loose to give yourself a little room for error
3) try a robber zone

it basically sounds like you are playing too much man defense. maybe blitzing too often. remember if you blitz in man defense, someone will ALWAYS be open. the computer ai in this game reacts to the plays that you call on defense. if it sees you playing too much man, it will start exploiting it.
