This may be such a YMMV that I debated not posting it but here goes. I was in Sears last night in Elizabethtown, KY and they had the XBox Live with the MechAssault full game marked in the case for $49.99, she went to ring it up and it came up $69.99 but she gave it to me for $49.99 because of the tag in the case. So check out your Sears.

I picked up mine at CC last week too for $49.99. It was a great deal for 1 year, a headset, and mech assault. Highly recommended if you dont have one yet!

After reading this thread, I bought Xbox Live at Sears last weekend. Xbox Live version 3 with Mechassault was at $69. But Xbox Live version 1 with demos of Whacked and Moto GP was only $49. Since I already have Mechassault, I bought the version 1 kit. The outside of the box says that it expires on 10/31/03, but the subscription code in the box worked, and I now have a 12 month subscription.

Ahhh....that might explain it. The sticker was probably the Version 1 sticker.
