I love that game. Never won, but played it a lot. I have it (all 24k, or whatever it took ) on another computer but would love to have it on this one. Is there a versions that works with XP?

There are a ton of roguelike games out there that work with XP. Two popular ones:

Nethack

Ancient Domains of Mystery

I prefer the ADOM (the second one). However, it's quite difficult.

When I try to open it, it opens a little Dos window and then immediately closes it.

Got a good one. Thanks. ADOM looks a little too high tech for me.
