Why should I be banned? Just don't allow me to log on to Live with a mod chip. If the chip is disabled, let me back online, I paid the money.

It's fun to break the D-M-C-A.
It's fun to break the D-M-C-Aaaah.
You can get yourself cheats, you can have a good steal,
You can do whatever you feel ...

Because one possibility is you can hack the data in your save file or some other possibility of leaving something on the HDD which could allow some sort of backdoor or something that they might have missed. It's much safer to just prevent modded systems from coming on period.

Plus if anyone is really worried just get the new bios which prevents accidental logins with the chip on.

If that happened, it would be a lot easier for hackers to figure out a way to hook up to XBL. You could continually attempt to connect, and keep changing stuff until you got in. But by banning, you get one shot to get a modded XBox on XBL, then you have to shell out another $150. It's a much more effective deterrent.

Plus, add me to the list of people that don't want modded XBox's anywhere near XBL. I've been on it a year and so far cheaters have been few and far between(mostlyexploiting bugs or flaws in the game). I've given up playing PC games online because it's nearly impossible to find a game without someone using a hack to cheat. I tried to play NFSU (PC) online and the second race I did had a guy going around the track at 400mph. On the other hand, PGR2 on XBL is still sweet.

What about just getting one of those mod chips that can be turned off for xbox live as other people have said?

Mine has this feature. I forgot to turn it off. I didn't really think about it too much because it was my understanding that only clicky on the live tabs would connect me. The "Live Aware" titles will log you in automatically if you profile name is the same as your live account name. It is totally my fault that I got banned. I might just get another box for live games. The new eeprom route could be a real hassle.
