Confused about which Morrowind (XBOX)

Confused about which Morrowind (XBOX)
I've read so many great things about Morrowind but I'm still confused about which one to get. I was tempted to get the Platinum Hits version since Target has it for $15, but then I read about a Game Of The Year edition.

After reading some reviews, here's what I've heard:

-GOTY adds a substantial amount of content over the original
-GOTY has horrible load times and freezes up, unlike the original
-The original by itself, has 100s of hours of gaming time in it.
-GOTY has improved graphics

Can anyone here help me decide if GOTY is worth twice the price as the original?

It has much more content, fixes a few bugs and has an update that now allows you to see how much damage is done, which is a big help. I'd say if you're going to buy it, I would certainly recomend the GOTY edition.

I might wait a bit though, since the price is sure to drop before too long, or use the $5 gamer coupon if you can find it at Best Buy. I rarely see the GOTY vbersion around while the PH version is everywhere.

From what I've heard you are better off w/ the PC version. The Xbox version has (or had maybe they fixed it) a pretty severe bug which would potentially corrupt the HD.

The original game (platinum) had tons of freezing bugs as well -- don't think they really fixed that either way.

The main key to limiting the major freeze bug is to always try and keep your save slots below 200 memory units. It makes a huge difference, but you're probably still going to hit them a lot. Frustrating, but the overall game is more than worth it.

edit -- never had HD issues.

Get the GOTY edition, has more stuff (2 expansions) and it is just alittle more money. Why get the obsolete version?

if you're set on the xbox version, the GotY edition is a better buy - it cost $20 somewhere (although it may have been a sale).

but, i couldn't take the (relatively) poor graphics and controls of the xbox version and got the pc version instead.

It was EBgames.com. The price has been fixed now, though

Well, it moved really slow and choppy on my PC, so I guess you need a pretty good system to run it better than an Xbox.

yup, i've got a pretty good system. just ordered the nvidia 5900se for about $188 - and that's an xbox right there!

if people are interested, microcenter has the ati 9800 pro for about $240.

another thing that i missed in the xbox version was the capability to customize the way the character looked.

but mostly, i couldn't get used to the gamepad controls.

The only time I ever had major crashes was when I had way too much stuff in my inventory. When I would clean that out, I wouldn't get any more disc errors.

It's a great game no matter which version you get. I'm sure I was getting close to 100hrs and I didn't do every side quest or guild.
