Returning a X-mas gift, do I buy X-Box or Gamecube?
I got a home theatre system that I am returning tomorrow. I am going to pick up a game console with the money. Do I pick up an X-Box or a Gamecube?
My thoughts:
X-Box Pros:
Comes with two games
Online ready
X-Box Cons:
$179
Gamecube Pros:
$99
Gamecube Cons:
Comes with 0 games
Not online capable
We mostly play sport games. Suggestions or threads I can be pointed to would be very helpful. Thanks!

If you mostly play sports games I would prob go with XBOX as i don't really think that is the Cube's department. You may also wanna consider the PS2 for sports, I think EA sports games (which are usually best?), are only online for PS2. I may be wrong on that though. But for sports between XBOX and Cube, get XBOX I would say. Between XBOX and PS2 I am not sure.

If you play mostly sports games, and want online support, forget XBox or GameCube. The PS2 is the best choice.
All of the current EA Sports releases only support online play on the PS2. XBox online sports gaming is limited to the Sega/ESPN games (which play online on either platform) or the Microsoft games, which aren't nearly as good as the EA or Sega titles.
Also, all of the EA games in other genres only support online play on the PS2. So, if you want to play Need For Speed: Undergound, Lord of the Rings, or other major releases, PS2 is the only platform with online support. And you don't need a pay to play service like XBox Live...
The two free games with the XBox are Clone Wars, which is about $10 to buy separately for any platform, and Tetris, which was passe 10 years ago.

Xbox. Sports games use up a lot of space on memory cards. With the Xbox harddrive you won't have to worry there. If you want to play online though you will have to go with Sega Sports or the mediocre XSN games.

Sports games suck on the Xbox's butchered controller. The lack of two trigger buttons on each side makes playing games like Madden and ESPN NFL2k4 (juking, stiffarm) impossible. PS2 in an instant for EA/Sega sports games. XBOX for games like top spin, pgr2, amped 2, and links.

Funny.. the analog sticks (both of em) on my "butched" Xbox controller are more form fitting, more precise, and (in the case of the right stick) in a better position than the Playstation's "superior" controller. Let's not forget analog triggers!!

So I went with the XBox. Picked up Medal of Honor Fronline, Halo, and Star Wars Starfighter at Circuit City for $45 and Madden 2003, MLB 2003 (with ARod on the cover), and LOTR, FOTR for $30. Got the xbox at EBGames for $179 - $50 GC and a mail in $30 gift card. Not bad.

did you buy it from EB on-line or B&M?? Does the B&M offer the $30 giftcard or is it on-line only?? EB on-line has it on back order right now...
I'm about to but an XBOX, but I'm not sure where the best deal is... I'm wondering if I wait a few weeks to a month Microsoft will be selling it with better games (included)???

Xbox. More sports games for you. And better 3rd party support. And online play. And no extra memory card needed because of the hard drive. And custom soundtracks. And DVD compatability. And Halo 2 next year...do I have to go on?
Good choice. Enjoy!
