Gamecube Broadband Adapter and Best Buy

Just as an FYI for anyone looking to get one of these... I called Best Buy's main number to ask if they carried this item at all. The person with whom I spoke said they carried the ISP modem but not the BBA. He had searched their inventory system for about 15 minutes.

Yesterday I was in a Best Buy and found 4 of them lying on a shelf scattered among the other Nintendo accessories. There was no price listed anywhere. It rang up at $34.99 ($29.99 with the $5 coupon). I had asked a salesperson about these, and he didn't know anything about them. So YMMV but some Best Buys DO have them in stock.

Now the question is should I open it and try to get online with Mario Kart?

Or you could just use it as a $30 paper weight.

Nintendo has an "announcement" in Feb. My guess, online. They signed a deal with AOL, Splinter Cell: Pandora is listed as online for all three consoles and broadband adapters are popping up everywhere. Warp Pipe might work for you now though. Animal Crossing Online as a launch anyone?

How is that lucky? I think a $30 paperweight sounds much nicer and fancier than a $4.99 paperwieght.

I'm thinking of getting one of these for LAN play. I heard Wal-Mart has the BBA for cheap if you can find it there. Thats where I plan on heading soon, and then I'll check out BB. I'm probably not going to go online because I've got enough people to play 4 player with regularly, but check the Warppipe forums, there's tons of people doing it there with good results.

$34.99 (or even $29.99) is highway robbery for these things, which is really only good for two games right now...

Actually, one of these things along with PSO is quite a nice thing. But we don't talk of these things here, do we??

Yeah thats what I found out, they used to be on clearance at Wal-Mart a few months ago for really cheap but I didn't pick one up. Now that Nintendo is making them again the new ones they are getting are normal price. You can still find some that are on clearance at Walmart or Target if you are lucky.
