The two *big* exclusives fo 2k4 will be Halo 2 and Rallisport Challenge 2. Both are going to be fully online through Xbox Live for some big multiplayer games.

Since Sony denied NEC to release Ys I&II Eternal Story over here, maybe Microsoft should give them a little talk about an English version on "another" system.. or would that be Konami now since they just bought the console rights to the series worldwide.

We all know Xbox needs some good Japanese RPGs.. and what better way than to get a series of RPGs that actually feature gameplay? A feature missing from another popular series.

It's either that or I buy a PS2 and just import it.. I don't mind importing, it's that first part that bothers me.

As far as RPG's, you've got Sudeki and True Fantasy Online coming for the Xbox in 2k4.

I don't know of MS working on soccer for the Xbox, but I'm hoping EA will hop on board the Live train so they can just publish their FIFA series for the Xbox to get us some "footie" (spelling?) for Live.

Speaking of which...any truth to the rumor in the Official Xbox Magazine that said EA and MS are close to inking a deal for XBL compatability? They also said Battleground 1942 was back in development and being tested on an early XBL infrastructure.

And I second Japanese RPGs. It's obvious the PS2 can attract gamers because of the big exclusives from Japanese developers, but also because it has niche games that end up bleeding into the mainstream. There are plenty of games - Xenosaga and Suikoden from Konami, and the Breath of Fire series from Capcom - which have sold pretty well despite being very Japanese in an American market.

Third thing (sorry this post is so loaded), any news on a US release of Phantom Dust? This looks like a really cool online game, and is precisely the type of game I was talking about above. Could this be the big sleeper hit for '04?

#1. Being aPR guy, I can't comment on rumors. But I'm with you in wishing they'd restart work on BF 1942 for Xbox, that'd be fantastic, and obviously, everyone in the gaming universe (well, we Xbox fans anyhow) would love to see them work with Live on their new titles. NFS:Underground was such a great game, to have it on live would've been a dream for me. Between that and Project Gotham 2, I'd never get any sleep if they were *both* Live games.

#2 Phantom Dust: Let me ask around on that, I'm with you in that it looks really cool, but I haven't heard anything about it lately (don't take that to mean anything good or bad, it could be that I fell asleep in the wrong meeting!..hahah)

I second that question. Don't make me buy one from overseas that probably is not that high of quality.

Hi Calico, any chance of there being strategy games, like Age of Empires being released for the XBox and of course XBox Live?

Thanx Chris

The thing that kills me on Xbox is the lack of a quality steering wheel. There are soooo many awesome driving games on Xbox, but not a single decent wheel. I'm playing Project Gotham 2 and tearing my hair out in frustration because I have to control my car with a gamepad instead of a wheel. I have no precision control. It's a widely known fact that all of the current wheels available for the Xbox just suck completely.

The PS2 has a fantastic wheel in the form of the Logitech Driving Force. I want something of similar or better quality for my Xbox.

I third that question. I know there is the issue of the expansion slot being the bridge to the headset.. but.. Wavebird > Everything.

Regarding the first party wireless controller, I haven't heard a thing. Ditto for strategy titles like AoE coming to Xbox. I sure wouldn't mind either item coming to the Xbox, right now I'm using the logitech wireless for Xbox, and it's a good product, I'd still like to see something first party.

The holidays were the end of one product cycle, so who knows what the new year will bring.

Have you ever tried Fountech's wireless dual-shock for PS2? I love that controller. I don't think I've come across anything that's such a precise match for its wired sibling.

You should check out this controller.

I have been thinking about picking it up. My only concern is how 'loose' the analog sticks are. That is the only reason I have not picked up the Logitech controller.

The Logi's sticks are somewhat loose compared to the controller S, but not nearly as loose as other 3rd party stuff I've tried. That Cosmo over at Lik Sang might be cool, and I'm hoping to check out that new Pelican one soon. Ahh Lik Sang...how you burned a hole in my wallet in my DreamCast days.

I don't know if you can help, but I thought I'd try. For the past 2 weeks one of the xbox live games, Capcom vs SNK 2 has been virtually unplayable with no fix in sight. If you try to log in you get an error message 4/5 times, games are CONSTANTLY being disconnected midway through and almost all games end with both parties being kicked off, resulting in both players receiving a loss. Do you think you can find out what the heck is going on. Many people are upset about this, with numerous threads on other gaming sites complaining about this. PS2s network is FREE and I do not experience these problems, yet the service i PAY ANNUALLY for is complete crap. This game is the only reason I have Xbox live so if nothing s done I'll have no reason to renew my account, and just by looking at other sites, I know I'm not alone.

You mentioned the two big releases being Rallisport 2 and Halo 2. Does that mean Fable will not be released this year, or that you don't consider it a big release?

Fable is slated for this year, I just didn't come to my mind right away because I'm not on that product team. Sorry 'bout that.
