I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

Give me the Giants on the original Tecmo Bowl and Lawrence Taylor will block every kick attempted.

Also, give me a great nosetackle on Tecmo Super Bowl and i will dive in and sack the quarterback, repeatedly and without mercy.

You have been warned.

This is still without a doubt my favorite game of all time.
I don't know if anyone felt the same way, but when my freinds and I used to play this, having to play from right to left in a two player game was considered the "kiss of death".

This is by far the greatest game ever made. My Freshman year of college we had a group of around 10 or so of us who played every week, same night, same time, and even had a poll that came out every week based upon the week's game results (head to head competition).

We used the Poll to create a playoff bracket and spent all day Super Bowl Sunday playing playoff games, all the way to a Super Bowl, and had a trophy engraved for the winner. We even recorded via the VCR the final game and did pre and post game interviews for each game.

Yes, we were sick. But it was one of the most memorable times of my college career.

I assume we're all talking about Super Tecmo Bowl for the original NES?

Because Tecmo Super Bowl was an SNES game.

Nope. It was called Tecmo Super Bowl on NES.

Edit: And the first version on the SNES was called the same thing i believe.

I stopped by my local Gamestop store in the mall a couple months ago and saw a used copy of Tecmo. I had to buy it. Then I had to buy a NES system from Half.com (I had never owned my own system). Then I bought controllers from half.com (2 regular and 2 NES Max controllers). Then I waited. Then I had to buy a new cartridge connector from ebay to replace the one in the nes. In the meantime I also picked up a backup copy of Tecmo.

Then after an eon of waiting... it all came together one Saturday afternoon and I played the greatest video game ever created... complete with QB Eagles, Christian Okoye, and the unstoppable duo of Bo and Marcus.

It had been close to a decade since my college days of endless hours, days and weeks of Tecmo. We did color commentary during games and set up brackets.

We need to push for a collection of these old NES games (unaltered) to be put on the new systems so they can be played online. Then we could all really find out who the Tecmo champ of all time really was.

For me, it had to be the Bears. Payton was unbelievable in that game. There were also some great defensive players as well, like Mike Singletary. I do believe, though, that LT was the fastest player in the game. Damn Giants.
