MM isn't bad, but for that genre I kinda like Spider FIghter a bit better. Of course I got my butt kicked so I think I'll practice a bit more on it and see if I can get my score up.

I'll add Enduro to my playlist recommendations. Kinda tough, made it to Day 4 so far, but ti gets hairy. And the fog effects are amazing. The variation in graphical quality among these games on the same system is wide. I guess programmers were really on a huge learning curve.

I got it at a KBToys in San Leandro CA that is closing and was having a 25% off sale. $22 and change out the door. Also got LoZ Wind Waker for 25% off. That one I don't get until Xmas
Got the patch in Megamania last night. Fun stuff!

Got it last night as a Christmas present for someone. They love it!! The emulation is spot on (I mean.. how could they screw it up?!)
I will be persuing a copy for myself now.

I'm going to have to use a gift card for this one...

Don't forget...if you've got a Gameboy Player, you can play these babies on the big screen. No need to get the PS2 version (unless you just HAVE to have those two exclusive games).

Anyway, get it soon! Some games are a bit simple and dry, but many are great. HEck, even Skiing keeps ya coming back for moree, simple as it seems.

Actually, the 2600 is *not* all that easy to emulate on GBA hardware, from what I've read. Which is why this is the only 2600 emulator available. OTOH, there are GBA emulators of the SMS/Gamegear, NES, TG-16, etc., and the GBC (don't ask-not sure why one needs to emulate the GBC on the cart-compatible GBA but someone might know).

Anyway.. do you know the speeds/compatibility of the emulators for NES, SMS/GG, and TG16? I have the option to get a flash cart and this is what I would use it for.. I'd cry tears of joy if the TG16 emulator worked at a good speed, because I could play Wonder Boy in Monster Land!! Well, I could play the SMS version but it was pretty crappy..

The NES works great, the TG16 works fine with many games, slow with some. There's a GBA EMU board somehwere (search for it--don't have the link handy) that discusses the emmus and flash cards. I might pick up a F2A card myself (mwelectronics has them cheap) for NES & TG. I have a ton of TG/PCE games, but the ol' TurboExpress is a real battery hog, and a bit bulky.

Have you seen the GBA OS they have out? Looks pretty cool!

That would be Pogoshell, and it looks slick. (Haven't received my flash yet.) It's pretty slick, and the key thing is it does compressed saves so you can have a huge library of NES games etc. on one card.

PocketNES on a flash cart is a must have...and is easily worth the cost of a flash cart...Its WHY I got one. I made a nice 76 game 8 meg rom file for it, took me less than 5 min. Nothing beats the 2 Zelda's, Mario Bros trilogy, Metroid, Pro Wrestling, NES Ice Hockey etc etc on the go ANYWHERE with game save ANYTIME in a game. And of course they play and sound about 95% perfect with full speed. The only game with some issues is Mike Tyson Punch Out, but its fully playable. Screw the damn E-Reader! And since I own all these damn NES carts its not even illegal. Oh and did I mention link cable support? If the games are small enough it will send the rom to your friend's GBA memory...he doesn't even NEED a flash cart.

BTW, as cool as the TG-16 emu may/would be...Its not quite up to the same status as PocketNES. The TG-16 hardware is just too much...which sucks because Galaga 90' and Devil's Crush on my GBA would drop me on my ass and spank me hard. Seriously, PocketNES is SO good people were swearing Nintendo "borrowed" its code for the E-Reader emulation. I've been playing Metroid on my GBA for about a year now and I can tell you, using game saves to the GBA memory is much nicer than having to imput the damn passcode. I can also tell you that Zelda 2 has not aged well, in fact I don't know how I managed to beat it when it first came out because after playing now I frankly can't stand it! The first will always be the best IMO, and yes, more so than Link to The Past.
As for the Activision Collection....I'm not impressed....River Raid just doesn't "feel" right and the lack of Imagic games just sucks hard. No Demon Attack or Atlantis? BLASPHEMY!! And I must be the only idiot on the planet who has never liked Pitfall. BARF! Someone needs to get C64 emulation going now.

You guys haven't mentioned one of the very best features of the Activision Anthology: The complete text for every instruction manual is viewable within the game! I never had an Atari 2600 when I was growing up, but my cousin did. I bought this game mostly for River Raid, Pitfall, and HERO. I remember seeing a lot of the other games, but I had never played them and didn't know how. It would have been a drag having to carry around a thick owners manual just to be able to play most of the games... Combine the instructions with the saved high scores and patch rewards and this game ROCKS! Despite the limited graphics, most of the games are incredibly fun...

The high score save is MY favorite feature.. I'm really annoyed that the Namco and Konami collections don't have this. Of course the Namco and Pac-Man collections are about the most dry, bare-bones classic game collections I've ever seen. (Still great games mind you, just lazily put on a pack for quick $$$).

The concept didn't elude me....Previous incarnations of the Activision collections did include at least Atlantis into the bunch.
Even that took me by surprise as Imagic wasn't Activision but hey I wasn't complaining...How they got on there I don't know, I had figured Imagic got swallowed up by Activision over the years through buyouts. Although myself I was brought up with an Intellivision which had the much MUCH better versions of these Imagic classics plus ones that were never on the 2600...(Nova Blast).
Anyway, no biggie thats what PC's are for, playing these classics till the end of time.

Pixy, this is the #1 pet peeve I have with regards to a lot of these classic gaming compendiums on the GBA.....LACK OF HI SCORE SAVE! I'd probably play them 100% more if the damn carts would remember the hi score.
ESPECIALLY the Konami collection which IMO is the best out there so far. If Time Pilot had hi score save support I'd be a happy little turd!
Why the hell do they not have batteries for this? And don't tell me to keep costs down as thats PURE BS since these carts are $29.99 when they first arrive on the scene just like all the other carts WITH batteries.
Gack!

Except you'd never be able to beat MY Time Pilot scores.
