xbox live trouble shooting

i recently picked up a headset mic and i can't seem to connect my xbox live to it.

the only online capable game with voice chat i have is crimson skies. anyone else have problems getting the mic/headset to work? i can't hear nor talk to anyone.

im wondering if it is because im on a 2month trial and i originally didn't have a mic so it isn't enabled?

Does the light on the memory card connector thingee turn green? You can turn it off, in which case it will be red.

I used the two month free trial, and I can use the mic. On Crimson Skies, it seems a little inconsistent... I think you can only talk to and hear people who are close to you while you're playing the game.

Besides, if the mic isn't plugged in, the other people's voices should come through your tv speakers. Maybe people just aren't talking?
