Animal Crossing question (Gamecube)

I have a question about Animal Crossing for those of you who have it. I'm looking to buy it cheap and I've seen people selling it used on eBay with the memory card and game saves on it.
I've never played the game and I want to start fresh and have whats on the original memory card when you buy the game new. If I buy the game used and erase the previous owner's game on the memory card will I still be able to keep what is supposed to be on the card when you buy it new? In other words...is the original content on the card and the players saved game seperate files on the memory card?
Also if someone already has every NES game unlocked in the game, can you keep those unlocked, yet still start the game fresh? That would be good because I heard that getting some of the NES games unlocked is near impossible without the use of a Action Replay device.
Thanks for any answers.

I think I'll tackle this question.

Just to be on the safe side I'll give the long version:
When you buy the game new there is a special item saved on the card. The rest of the card will be used for the game save since it's a huge file. You should have no problem deleting the old game save on the card while keeping the special item on there. I would just make sure the seller hasn't deleted everything off their card first or else you may miss out on the free item.

I don't think it is at all possible to keep the NES games and delete the other things. They should all be lumped into the one large game save. If you are getting this mainly for the older NES games I wish you luck...it is super tough to get them all without cheating. I gave up on it long ago.

It's a great game but it takes so much work each day doing all the stuff that I got tired of it. I did play non stop for months on end so it was definitely worth the cash. My wife and I had a great time with the game.

I hope I answered your question. I never post well when tired so I'll have to check back in the morning to see if I did a good enough job with my response.

I got the last copy at my local Software Etc. They had to pull the box from the shelf and find the game in a drawer behind the registers. I didn't get the "free item" that's supposed to be included. I guess my copy had either been returned or checked out by the store employees.

I was a little bummed about that, but it didn't impact the overall game at all. I played it every day for a month before I just got burned out on it (it can become too much like work).

I'm tempted to see how bad my town looks now. It's been months since I played.

Anyway, if you're getting a deal, I wouldn't worry about not getting the free item.

Yeah - any other AC player can send you the free item if they're done with it in their town.

Go to an AC website and ask for it.
