I have Super Metroid for SNES, and I think it's okay. Good, not great. I find the scenery dull and there's a little too much back-tracking. Having said that, I can now sit back and await all manner of bug-eyed responses.

I agree with you.
Then again, I am one of those here who does not like the Nintendo series of games. The ones I've ever liked are the Pokemon games, and Super Mario Brothers 2, but Super Mario Brothers 2 was actually a non Mario game that Nintendo took and put Mario characters on....
But as for the big games, Metroid, Zelda, Smash Brothers, Mario, etc, I've always found them boring..and you are right..the scenery in those games are quite boring. I remember in the 16 bit days, the lush and beautiful landscapes in Sonic games, then going back to Mario's pop corn clouds and pasty blue skies..boring. I like my scrolling clouds and water falls a bit too much.

I had never thought of it until reading this thread, but heck yeah, X-com would be a great GBA title. I still have copies for PC floating around, taking up a wopping 2 MB or so (actually probably much less if I go check the PC they are on)
To have the X-Com team on GBA would be excellent.
I'd also go nuts to see Chester Cheetah and CoolSpot from the Sega Genesis ported to GBA...ok, just kidding on those

A new mario game, enough with the ports as I own the originals. Actually, I don't mind the ports as they give the new generation a chance to play these great games, but for the love of god give us a new 2D mario game!
A new zelda game. This is in development by Capcom (who did the GBC zelda games) and hopefully will make it out this fall.
A port of Super Metroid, the best game of all time.
A port of Mortal Kombat 2, not the crap MK games out for the GBA now, but a perfect SNES port.
