xbox live headset?

i have the 2 month free trial, i kinda like it so now im looking for a headset mic.

should i buy the standalone head set for 30 bux or buy the rainbow six headset combo? are they the same headset? if not which one is better?

any advice to a fellow gamer would be appreciated!

jliu,

I do not like the standard live headset that much. A friend of mine likes the one that came with the Rainbow 6 set after he bent it to fit. I do not know if one is better sounding than the other.

There is a $10 dollar coupon floating around here off the headset by itself, also one for $10 off XBL version 2

Jliu,

If you don't want to spend the extra bucks for an official headset, there is a third party company that sells a headset for $5...

...hope this helps.

I think you still have to have the part that connects to the xbox controller

I got the original headset, which broke. Then I got the Mad Catz $5 one. Finally, I got Rainbow Six 3 with the headset. Of the three, I actually liked the original one the best. The RS3 one feels really tight around my head and the Mad Catz one just felt cheap.
