max payne 2 for xbox

Did this game ship early ?? I noticed that gamespot has a review for it already.

To anyone that may have played it. How does it compare the first one ?? It got a lower score so I'm wondering if its a lesser quality game.

Loved the first..definitely in the top three of xbox games for me.

I played the first on XBOX, and have been playing the 2nd on PC. The game play is pretty much the same. The graphics were slightly improved, and in the new engine you can interact with the world a little more. Nothing major that I've seen so far, but any box, chair, trash can...things like that, that you run into will move around. That's about it. Still a great game.

A great game indeed, but a little short. Still, it has a few different endings I have heard. Btw, I am talking about the PC version, of course

I've read it will run well on a rig similar to mine:

Windows XP Professional SP1
Athlon XP 2000+
ASUS A7V333 MB
1GB PC2700 SDRAM
200 GB WD 7200SE RPM HD (8MB cache)
GeForce 3 Ti200 64MB

I've played the first game on the PC and loved the mouse/keyboard controls, and am a little hesitant to pick this one up on the Xbox because of it. I've even read the Xbox version uses an auto-aim feature to compensate for the controls, which makes the game a little easy. My favorite parts of the first game were diving forward in bullet time to take out some baddies, and then spinning around 180 degrees to take out some more on my tail before I hit the ground. I'm afraid I'd lose this level of control with the Xbox.

So my question is, would the graphical enhancement of the Xbox version outweigh the controls of the PC version?

Thanks,

Jeremy

There would not be any graphical enhancement on the XBOX version compared to your PC. Well, other than the mirror and reflections actually working in the XBOX version since you have an Nvidia card hehe. Since you have a choice, get the PC version.

I have half the RAM you do, and it ran great. But I have a 128mb video card.

I take back what I said. The XBOX version suffers the same problem as GeForce 3/4 cards. No reflections. Makes sense since it's a hardware clipping plane problem and the xgpu is the same class as GF3/4.

I rented it the other day when I went to visit my folks for the holiday. So glad I took my XBOX.

It was a good game but I'm glad I rented and didn't buy. It was pretty much the first game minus the blood trails.

Yeah I'm playing the PC version of this. Game looks fantasic on my 9600 pro, but its the same game as Max Payne 1 with better graphics and a new story. I was really disappointed that they didn't add any new gameplay moves to Max or the bullet time. It says this game has bullet time 2.0 but its exactly the same as the first game unless there's something I'm missing, and since you're fighting the same enemies in every level I get tired quickly. I'm on Part III right now, hope it gets more interesting in the later chapters.

Apparently you are missing the fact that the more enemies you kill the slower time goes and the faster and more accurate you become. The hourglass turns yellow when this happens. Maybe you didn't notice it at first, but it helps out in some of the really tough fights.
