Viet Cong - EXCELLENT.
I just finished the first person shooter "Viet Cong" the other day and I was blown away by how immersive the game was. You play a special forces soldier in Vietnam. There's a heavy team focus and the story is very strong. The first level or two are a bit lame, but after that the game kicks into high gear and just features a scary level of immersiveness. They NAILED it when it comes to the "you are there" feel.
By the time your team is running a silent night recon through a swamp you'll be absolutely hooked. The missions are so intense.. with the limited saves and extreme length of some levels, you actually feel a genuine tension. Booby traps, VC tunnel systems, freeing POWs, temples in the middle of the jungle, villages, bridges, indigenous pointmen, hamburger hill type situations, waves of VC hitting your base at night, everything.. It's just crazy.
And the teamwork aspect is awesome. It works better than Call of Duty, since those guys basically ran to some pre-set point, waited for you, repeat. In VC, on the other hand, your team members feel more like real team members. They'll follow your orders but within them they'll be doing whatever random thing is appropriate and at any time you can call them back. Their behaviour feels more real.
There's a huge variety of missions and surprisingly varied amount of terrain. If there's anything I can complain about it is that the system requirements are very steep yet the graphics aren't that special. I figure it's because they're trying to recreate very dense foliage using a slightly out of date engine.
Bottomline, I've played every FPS of note released in the last few years and Viet Cong is definitely among the better ones. It's long, it's incredible immersive, and it offers a large variety of levels that are fun to play. You can tell they poured their heart into making it.

Good game but the on-line portion got the regular round retards that have nothing better to do then ruin your fun. I sold the game a day after some jerk tk'ed me 5 seconds from the flag so he could take the win.
