Let the XBOX2 hype begin!
In a similar vein for the G5 and PS3 threads, I just saw this news story. Looks like Microsoft is trying to beat everyone to the punch this time around!

I guess this doesn't sound that surprising to me. There could be a LOT of time between early tech demos shown around next Easter vs. when the system will actually be released. I kinda expected the big 3 to possibly hint at their next gen systems at next year's E3 anyway, and Easter isn't that much prior to E3 if indeed Microsoft does show something at that time.

Well, Sony has already said they will have a tech demo of the Cell ready by March. I would not be surprised to maybe get some specs at E3 based on that. This Xbox2 thing is still just a rumor, but it does sound about right.
Oh, and Franchise, its "N5" not "G5"

PS. This is not a PSX2 bash I own one and like it but fact is it's much closer to being a PC then the xbox could ever hope to be in it's life.

I mean really damn you M$ for giving me a hard drive so I don't have to buy memory cards and Internet out of the box. DAMN YOU TO HELL. Also don't forget what system you got to add a hard drive to and has a USB plug. I know what one sounds like a PC to me.

The reason the Xbox is so similar to a PC is because it uses a PC processor and motherboard. It even uses a modified GeForce 2! Sony's processor is custom made to specifically do FLOPS (in fact, it does twice as many FLOPS as the Xbox despite have almost 1/3 the processing speed). The Xbox even runs Direct-X, which was originally developed for and still used by most games for running on a PC. The fact that you could build your own Xbox using common PC parts is reason it is closer to a PC, not just because of a hard drive or USB.

You think because it has a Linux development kit that it is more PC? So that makes PSOne more of a PC than the Xbox too, right?

I think my point was missed. I don't really care which system is more like a PC. I don't think it's a bad thing at all to be like a PC. The ultimate gaming machine to me is a PC so what's wrong with a console copying a PC? Seems like it makes it a heck of a lot easier to use typical PC components so developers don't have to do much of anything special like they would for a proprietory system.
