Has Anyone Tried the new First Person Shooter Master Controller?
I saw this thing in Best Buy today
It felt flimsey and cheap and I imagine that it would be sorta hard to use your ring fingers for the Y and B buttons, but still I liked the layouts of the two analog sticks. I imagine playing something like Halo or R63 would be a little easier with it. In any case the dual gun triggers are pretty neat.
Has anyone tried it yet? Any impressions so far?

I have a friend that got it the day it came out. He said that it was a bit awkward at first, but after he got used to it he really likes it. He said that it feels a bit cheap, but it works fine when he's used it.
I've got one on my christmas list (since I've been instructed not to buy anything else till christmas). I've picked it up and played with it in the store to see if I thought I would like it, and I think once I got used to using my ring fingers for the buttons it wouldn't be so bad.

Is that an LCD screen? What's that used for?

You can have the buttons setup in 3 different configurations. If you like the X and Y button mapped to the right ring fingers for Halo, but you like them mapped to the left ring fingers for MechAssault, you can save these different setups. The LCD screen lets you select the configuration that you want to use the controller in. It looks like the buttons below the screen will cycle through the configurations, while the screen displays the configuration. I'll ask my friend exactly what is shown on there when I talk to him next time. I don't know if it simply shows the configuration number or if it actually shows a diagram of the controller and the button mappings.

I don't see how it would make FPS that much easier to play, since you're still using the sticks to move and aim... unlike the most comfortable (IMO) control system for FPS which is keyboard and mouse.
Dear God! The colour scheme is awful! Brown? Cream? Orange? It Came From The 70's! For anyone interested in buying it, it's $29.99 with Free Shipping from BestBuy.com... product link.
On the site it appears in a much more pleasing black/grey two tone.

I own one. For a 3rd party controller it pretty good.
Issues:
Yes the analog sticks feel cheaper in quality than a 1st party controller. It takes a while to get used to. I would only use it
for fps games period.
Answers to questions:
Whats the LCD do?
It lets you program the controller in a simple to use easy method. And yes the LCD is SideLit like a watch is! ie you can see it in the dark.
Where are the black and white buttons?
Just underneath the Right analog stick down and a little towards the middle.
Benefits:
You rarely ever have to take your fingers off the analog sticks. your thumbs will be on the sticks your two trigger fingers are on L and R and your middle and ring fingers have X Y A B buttons at their respective finger tips!
Its FULLY programmable. (3 presets you can store!) you can switch every button to your tastes! Including setting the sticks inverted if you want. So the buttons are: L R A B X Y Black White Left stick button Right stick button. Not sure about start and back.
I bought the stick specifically for Counter-Strike in mind. I can easily switch weapons on the fly and I've managed a couple knife kills last night.
For the Curious:
My setup:
L trigger = Crouch <default>
R trigger = Shoot <default>
L analog stick = move <default>
R analog stick = aim/look <default>
L stick button = reload
R stick button/hold = fast look <default>
Left side middle finger button = Walk (essential to CS)
Left side ring finger button = Jump
Right side middle finger button = Alternate Fire
Right side ring finger button = switch weapon
Black button = switch grenades
Back button = display score
start = pause options change team etc..
White button = forgot what i use that for oops sorry

I got this as a gift and I've used it for Killswitch. It's pretty cool... the abxy buttons are a little mushy, but it works and whatnot. Doesn't really make me play any better - more of a novelty.
