XBOX dvd playback in Hi-Def???

I have the hdtv module for the XBOX. If I get the dvd kit, will it upconvert the dvd playback to 1080i?

Why didn't Microsoft enable progressive scan DVD playback? I know it's possible with the current hardware. Makes me wonder if there will be a future add-on, especially considering that the latest PS2 has progressive scan DVD playback.

I'm not too sure it would matter that much for me though. PS2 games look the same on my TV whether I use S-Video or if I hook up the component cables and set the game for progressive scan. Sony's 3:2 pulldown feature perhaps?

Supposedly it had something to do with them unable to retain DVD copy protection in progressive mode with the Nvidia graphics chipset, I think. It can be enabled but you have to hack it but it's not going to upconvert to 1080i though.
