The new Zelda Bonus Disc - Now available to anyone with a Cube!

Since I couldn't find the previous thread, I decided to start another. Starting November 17th, Nintendo will be releasing a new Gamecube bundle. This will include the system (which I think will only be black) and a special new Zelda disc. The disc will differ from the original one given away with a pre-order for Zelda WW because it will include Zelda 1 and 2 for NES, Zelda : Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask for N64, as well as a demo for Wind Waker and some highlight clips. This disc will not be for sale in retail stores, only if you buy the new bundle.

HOWEVER, if you already own a cube, you can get it two ways. The first way is to register their GameCube system along with two of the following games: Mario Kart Double Dash!!, Mario Party 5, Mario & Luigi, Superstar Saga, and 1080 Avalanche. The other way to get the disc is by subscribing to or renewing a subscription with Nintendo Power, the publisher's in-house magazine.

Since I already have a Cube, and will be getting all three of the Mario games mentioned, I will be receiving mine for free. I will try and give impressions of the disc when it arrives into my store (sometime next week).

Kudos to Nintendo for letting the true fans get in on this offer.

Just another incentive for me to plunk down the $20 or whatever for Nintendo Power.

Groucho, ever played Mario RPG (SNES) or Paper Mario (N64). Its VERY similar to those two (more Paper mario style though). I played it at E3 for 15 minutes and LOVED the game. I will be buying that and Mario Kart together on release day (November 18th)

I just was on Nintendo's web site, and didn't see any info about this deal. Has this been confirmed?

So does this mean your screwed if you didn't mail in the registration card when you bought your GC?

I'll probably pass anyway, too much hassle to get a disc of games I already played. Mario Kart is the only one of those games I want, though I have no idea what "Superstar Saga" is.

Sweet, thanks. Looks like I'll be paying $20 (the cost of a NP subscription) for five great games.

Hrm I was willing to pay $20 for the disc anyway. But this means I'll be receiving Nintendo Power which I don't care for... I guess I can deal with getting the crappy mag to get the disc, just this one time though...

You could always change address on the subscription and send it to someone who enjoys it if you have a younger cousin or something into Nintendo games.

Well this is great news! Thanks for the post Gizmo.

$19.95 is a great price for this... the magazine is just a bonus i guess. I was anticipating having to buy it for ~$40 pre-owned from someplace.

Can't Wait!

Since I'll be getting the package as well as the games listed for Christmas, I guess I'll be getting two copies! One to sell!

Having the magazine come to my house is a sacrifice I'm gonna have to make . After all, I do receive GamePro but that was a free sub from KB toys, would never pay for any magazine again. Platform specific official mags have a tendency to suck more so than regular mags. Once I *discovered* the internet and gamefaqs in late '98-'99(I was late to the party, what can I say) I stopped buying gaming magazines, except for the occasional OPM for the demo disc.

There's too many dancing bananas in this thread.

to Nintendo for not ripping off their already installed user base.

Great offer. I'm getting Mario & Luigi and Mario Kart. Getting this disc free just makes it that much sweeter.

Here are the details of the offer.

http://www.nintendo.com/news/news_ar...articleId=9066

With Nintendo sales already surging (they claim to have taken the number two spot away from the Xbox in the US) this could be a very good Holiday season for them. They won't catch PS2, but they may at least get better third party support because of increased sales.

I JUST renewed within the last month for 2 more years of NP (up to 2006). Think they'll count that towards it?
