Newbie to PS2 and SIMPSONS HIT AND RUN - Need a little help...
Sorry to burden the pros with piddling crap like this, but I just came into a PS2 for the first time in my never-been-a-gamer life, and purchased the new SIMPSONS game with it.
Right away it prompts me to continue/or not with a memory card, but the controller doesn't respond to any touches.
Do I need a memory card to play this game/any games? I went into the PS2 without a game inserted in the drive, and the controller works fine.
Did I buy a bum game?
Thanks for the help!

Maybe you plugged your controller into the second (right) port instead of the left?
Many games have that prompt but usually you can move the cursor down, highlight "Continue without saving" and then get to the game by pressing the X button.
Madden 2004 drives me nuts because it can't seem to locate the save in slot 1 and is always looking in slot 2 for some unknown reason

It just loads to that "Continue without saving" screen, then nothing...

Hmmm weird.
Do you have any other games, do they work with the controller? If not, you can still try the controller on the menu screen without any disc in the tray and make sure the input is at least working.
I assume you've turned off the PS2 and then tried again, right?

I took the game out and fiddled around the console's menus, and the controller worked just fine. It's only with the game in that the controller dies, or at least isn't responding.
I don't have any other games, hilariously enough. I took the dive on the PS2 BECAUSE of this game. A teensy bit ironic...

I'd call the Customr service number for the game publisher (it should be inside your game booklet). Ask them what they think. If you can't find the number inside your booklet, post here and I'll locate it for you.
edit : call 310-649-8030. That's tech support.
