PC Gamer lists Cheap Games

There was an article in PC Gamer recently that listed some great games that were pretty cheap now.

Here's a list of the 10:
1. Black and White
2. Freedom Force
3. Deus Ex
4. Homeworld: Cataclysm
5. Nascar Racing 4
6. Clive Barker's Undying
7. American McGee's Alice
8. Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force
9. Anarchy Online (Free Download
10. Myst III: Exile

Has anyone found Freedom Force? I've been looking but can't find it anywhere.

I did fine Undying and Alice in a 2-pack for 10 bucks last night at Wally World.

Oh yeah, are these games really that good?

Anyone know if Renegade is any good? I got the strat guide for a penny at BB the other day, so maybe that Gamer's Pack would be a good deal for me.

I just saw Freedom Force for 9.99 at EBGames tonight (B&M). Costco B&M also has it pretty cheap - remember seeing it there a few weeks ago.

1. Black and White - yeah
2. Freedom Force - yes
3. Deus Ex - yes
4. Homeworld: Cataclysm - yeah
5. Nascar Racing 4 - no clue
6. Clive Barker's Undying - yes
7. American McGee's Alice - yeah... it's allright
8. Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force - no
9. Anarchy Online - no idea
10. Myst III: Exile - no idea

I'd add Heavy Metal to that list of cheap, but good... also both No One Lives Forever games.

you want cheap? Download Enemy Territory or Hidden and Dangerous for free.

You want good? Buy Mafia - it may be cheap these days too.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. I'm going to look for Freedom Force after this week (3 tests - yuck!) and may pick up that 2-pack of Undying/Alice or get Deus Ex.

I will dispute Black and White as being a good game. The concept is good/neat... but the game is micromanagement hell from the very start. It was hyped like crazy when it came out, but I think people realized that they didn't translate the concept into good gameplay. I'm surprised that PC Gamer mentioned it as a good game at all.

Freedom Force and Deus Ex are two of my favorite games ever, though. And I've heard great things about the Homeworld series.

Elite Force was really good from a multiplayer aspect, but the solo-player was pretty easy to beat, and somewhat repetitive.

If you're up for multiplayer, Tribes shouldn't cost more than $10. My all time fav multiplayer game. Still has a lot of active servers since 1999. I still play every week. Tribes 2 is good also but stick with the original if you need to choose.
There is probably a combo pack you can purchase.

Planescape: Torment. Might be difficult to find, but it's a D&D-based game (set in the Planescape universe, as the title suggests) in which the way you interact with the NPCs through dialogue and actions matters just as much as your hack-and-slashing... in fact, more. At some points, you have to die to continue the game. It's just very cool, and I think you will find very few people who played it and disliked it.

^I got stuck on it because I think I went through it too fast so now the monsters are way stronger than my chars. Might reinstall it one day to try again.

As for another title I would suggest NOLF and NOLF2 which should be about $15 or less now.

What! No mention of System Shock II for under $19.99? One of the best and creepiest games ever. If you see a copy, don't hesitate, just buy it. You'll be glad you did.

Out of all those "Alice" is the only one i have played.

The actual gameplay didnt push any limits, but the atmosphere made up for that 10x over.

I picked up Freedom Force sunday at Best Buy (Reward Zone bonus points, right?)

The two or three boards I've played have been enjoyable; this game is refeshingly different from other RPG/Action titles I can think of.

Thanks for the other suggestions too. I've played the demo of Alice now and might get that next after I finish Freedom Force. Or Deus Ex.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the article had a sub-20 dollar list too.
1. Warcraft III
2. Baldur's Game II
3. No One Lives Forever 2
4. Age of Empries II (played)
5. Tiger Woods 2003 (played)
6. MechWarrior 4
7. Asheron's Call 2 (apparently it's free at Gamestop online).
8. Dungeon Siege
9. Diablo II
10. Divine Divinity
11. Medal of Honor: Spearhead
12. Arcanum
13. Return to Castle Wolfenstein
14. Dark Age of Camelot
15. Day of Defeat
16. Metal Gear Solid 2 (If you want this for PC, I know some Target's are clearing this out for around 13 bucks... YMMV)
17. Starcraft Battlechest (with Starcraft and Brood War Expansion)
18. Icewind Dale Collection (Icewind Dale + Heart of Winter)
19. Red Strike (Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge)
20. Unreal Tournament 2003

1. Warcraft III (If you can get this for under $20, it's a must buy)
2. Baldur's Game II (same as above)
3. No One Lives Forever 2 (very funny game, although the original was better)
8. Dungeon Siege (decent game, good graphics, great sound)
12. Arcanum (awesome game, I still haven't finished it)
13. Return to Castle Wolfenstein (Very fun if you like FPS)
17. Starcraft Battlechest (with Starcraft and Brood War Expansion) (very cool series)
18. Icewind Dale Collection (Icewind Dale + Heart of Winter) (very fun series)

Another game I have seen for under $10 is Pharoah (I think I spelled it right). It also comes with the expansion pack. Great deal.
