Has anyone tried to mod Guncon2 to work with Xbox?
I have a Guncon2 for my PS2 but would like to play House of the Dead 3 on my Xbox, using said light gun. I know the Guncon2 uses the PS2 usb port, and xbox controllers are also USB devices. If I make a female-USB to male-Xbox connector will it work on the Xbox? Anyone tried this? Tips?

It won't work. Same reason why a PS2 Logitech steering wheel won't work on the Xbox, even with an adapter.
Just because a physical connection exists between two devices doesn't mean the two devices will be able to communicate. They need to speak the same "language."

I know just because you connect them does not guarantee they will work. But...
If they are both using the same data transmission format (USB) why should it not work? My friend made a memory card for his xbox out of a PC USB thumb drive, I don't see why a PS2 USB (which uses the standard port) light gun would not work when used with a different USB system? The Xbox has a standard USB hub for its controller port, I know because I've opened mine up. Therefor they should speak the same "language" (that is unless the hardware that handles light gun is somehow proprietary to the PS2.)
Joshic - Have you tried this and it didn't work? For the Steering wheel analogy, does that use the USB port on the PS2 or does it use the standard controller port (non-USB)?
Also, I don't mean to flame your post, I just want a little more detail in your reasoning. Feel free to get technical - I am an electrical engineer.

I would also imagaine that the game itself has to have Guncon support. I somewhat remember that you can't just use the Guncon/Guncon 2 with any light game on the PS/PS2 if the game itself didn't support it.

Plus a guncon2 hooks up weird. You have to plug it into several holes is your ps2. It's not just a controller. I had a problem hooking it up to my ps2 becuase I use s_video. I just gave up on it.

If you want to try hooking up your Guncon to the Xbox, it's worth a shot. The adapter is pretty cheap - $7.95 from this online retailer: http://www.levelsix.com/products/xbox/XboxUSB.shtml
I've bought from them in the past & they're good. For only $8 it might not hurt to try.

I know this is somewhat off topic, but how did you friend get a USB drive to work as an XBOX memory card? Did he just use the controller port to USB adapter and plug it in?

My friend created his own xbox to usb adapter cable and then plugged the thumb drive in. The memory cards are basically small capacity usb memory devices.

Does the Xbox use a proprietary format, or can you then just plug the USB thumbdrive into your PC and copy the files to the PC (and vice versa?)

Your very own Action Replay guide...
Save yourself $40 and do this if you have an xbox memory card.
Action Replay hack
I just bought a USB hookup for my Xbox controller an it worked for me. Cost me like $10. Can't remember where i bought it though.
