Two wavebirds working at once?

Two wavebirds working at once?

I recently bought a second wavebird and when I had them used at the same time, it didn't work. Can somebody explain the whole frequency thing and how to get both controllers to work at the same time.

On the controller and the receiving unit you need to turn the dials to the same number.

ie:
Wavebird 1: Channel 4
Controller Port 1 receiver: Channel 4
Wavebird 2: Channel 7
Controller Port 2 receiver: Channel 7

You can have them right next to each with no problem too.

PS Platnium WB is coming out soon.

Really?

Geez....as much as I'd like one I'll stick with the one out now since I only have 1 more to buy. Having Platinum would of been nice but I'll deal. The Wavebird alone is enough for me.

I hadn't heard that. I've been waiting a long time for a different color Wavebird.

I don't know if it's accurate, but I've heard that it's best not to set the frequencies right next to each other (like 5 & 6, or 10 & 11). I've just always kept mine set on numbers several digits apart anyway (like 1 & 9), so it hasn't been an issue.

Yes, there are 16. They work fine being right next to each other too.

How often do you have to change the batteries on these, and how many batteries do they take?

Do you have a link for this? All I could find was information about the release of this in Japan... (from Nov. 2002)

http://www.gamecubicle.com/news-nint...controller.htm

In addition, Nintendo will release a Platinum WaveBird Controller in Japan on December 5th. While Nintendo has yet to announce any plans to bring the controller to North America, we find it to be a strong possibility given the demand stateside. The standard Platinum GameCube Controller is already available at retail in North America.
I'd love to get a Wavebird - but would rather wait and get the Platinum version.

They take 2 AA batteries, and they last a LOOOOOOOONG time.

Yeah.. they do last a long time, espically if you put good batteries in there like Duracell Ultras or something. I've had a Wavebird for a year now, and have only changed the batteries twice.

You know what would be better than a Platinum Wavebird (or even the Black one?)..

Wavebird Deluxe.. with rumble feature and rechargable Lithium-Ion battery. I'd drop a $50 spot for that in a heartbeat.

Is the rumble feature really that big a deal on Gamecube games? I have a platinum cube; but I haven't played it yet... do that many games use the feature?

The only time I really notice the dual shock on PS2 is when I activate it by laying the controller on the coffee table. That seems to set it off, and usually sends it chattering across the glass top and onto the floor... GREAT FEATURE!!!

The Nintendo made games make excellent use of rumble. When the rumble feature came out on the original PSone it was pretty poor, but it's evolved a lot on the new systems (GC and Xbox, not sure about PS2's dual shock 2). It's not IMPORTANT, but it does add an extra level of depth and involvement in the games that use it properly. Before I got my Wavebird I played Smash Brothers the most, and even a simple game like that had some really nice rumble-effects.

Just about every game uses it, same as PS2 and Xbox. When the Wavebird was first announced, I balked because of the lack of rumble. However, after actually using it I found I didn't miss the rumble, and since then it's my primary controller.

Actually, I believe that the N64 "Rumble Pack" (first packaged with Starfox 64) beat the Dualshock to the market.

Ah.. you may be right. I was pretty "out-of-the-loop" for almost every N64 related.

The lack of rumble does not deter Wavebird from being the best controller ever made, but there are times when the rumble is REALLY nice to have. Example in Animal Crossing when you are fishing.. sure you have a visual cue when to hit your button, but for some reason, it's SO much easier to react to the vibration on the controller. Of course, I only found this out when I went to my friend house to play, she does not have a Wavebird as being in a dorm, it probably wouldn't be too beneficial.
