With the GC at $99 how much longer can they let the GBA SP sit on the shelves for the same price? Bet we see a price drop on that before Christmas as well..
|
"Nintendo's "Who Are You" campaign is supposed to run something like 5 minute trailers before movies like Matrix and Return of the King. I think we're in for some nostalgia-gone-hightech. If done right these trailers what Dr. Mario ordered."
good lord. why gawd? WHY?!?!?! talk about an excellent attempt to ruin a couple of good movies. j |
LOTR will be good but c'mon, The Matrix? Dude.

If one item on the menu drops in price at McDonald's, do they all have to? GBA has no problem selling. Why would they drop the price, especially after Nintendo just announced their first loss since going public? |

His comments had nothing to do with the movies. It was just jekbrown (as usual) taking a potshot at Nintendo.

actually i hate all non-movie related ads before movies. I know theaters are just trying to make a buck, but I dont want to see 3-4 TV shows plugged, a few car commercials, some soft drink ads etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc when I sit down to watch a film. If I wanted that, I'd sit at home and watch tv.
JH is right on one thing though, Im not a ninny fan. j |
Originally posted by mr.snowmizer After an extensive study of Econ 101, I'd say you're wrong. :) If one item on the menu drops in price at McDonald's, do they all have to? GBA has no problem selling. Why would they drop the price, especially after Nintendo just announced their first loss since going public? Your analogy is incorrect. Whatever McDonald's sells, shake or fries, they make money on it. So,the items on the menu aren't competing with each other. It would be more like Burger King dropping their price for a Whopper to compete with a Big Mac price drop. Different items from different companies. |
But the Gamecube and the Gameboy are different items from the SAME company. So I think the analogy stands.
|
With the Gamecube and Gameboy at the same price, this price can't level can't last forever. Most consumers see the Gameboy as a little brother to the Gamecube. Some consumers will think that the Cube is an inferior product to the Xbox and PS2 just because it is at the same price as the Gameboy. I don't happen to see it this way, but to the average Joe this is the way it looks. I kinda think that the price of the Gameboy will fall to by $20 this winter.

So they finally posted the actual sales numbers. Looks pretty promising for the GC. Don't know if they'll be able to sustain this through the holidays though.

And each one of them competed with a full-priced, profitable, Big Mac. But, until dvdtalk starts up a Fast Food Forum, that's as far afield as I'll drag this topic. :) |
I might buy Cube one of these days at this price. I've been waiting for a cheap price like this. . .heh, when it came out, I always told my friends, "Maybe when its 99$. . .that's what I did with Playstation."
Trouble is I don't play many games nowadays. . .school has taken up too much of my time. One of these days I may purchase though, along with some good AAA titles. |
Originally posted by Michael Corvin But the Gamecube and the Gameboy are different items from the SAME company. So I think the analogy stands. Uuuum....what're you talking about? This is Gamecube's price drop versus PS2 and XBOX's current price right? Gameboy and Gamecube are not competing each other, though some buyers may only buy one or the other. And mr. snowmizer, I know what you mean by that, but as far as I know, Nintendo, Sony, and MIcrosoft aren't owned by one big company, with XBOX acting as loss leaders so customers will buy the bigmac PS2. DIfferent products, different companies. Quite simple. |
Uuuum....what're you talking about?
You come in saying my analogy is incorrect, and now you're talking about Sony and Microsoft when the rest of us are responding to this... With the GC at $99 how much longer can they let the GBA SP sit on the shelves for the same price? Bet we see a price drop on that before Christmas as well.. |
