Best Racing Sim EVER - (PC)

Step 1: head over to www.liveforspeed.net
Step 2: download the game
Step 3: unzip to hard drive
Step 4: play game and be spoiled for other racing sims

If you like Gran Tourismo for the realism, then you'll love this game. Best when you have a force feedback wheel. It got a 92% from PCGamer. The download is a demo that also includes the full game which you can purchase an unlock code for - for cheap. It's quite awesome...

Thanks! I'll have to check this out over the weekend.

So what's the best price for a good force feedback wheel?

Wow, this is a good game. I just wish I had a better controller to play it with. May have to look into a steering wheel.

Yeah, I debated about that with myself... I think I put PC there to avoid the PC vs. Console arguments - and putting PC there keeps out the riff raff.

I love Grand Prix Legends. A company called West Racing is working on a game called Racing Legends which looks like it will be in the same vein, but with really high end graphics. Info is at www.west-racing.com. I'm a bit skeptical about it ever seeing the light of day though. The Wests were previously working on a sports car racing game, but that ended up going nowhere.

Anyway... I tried this demo a while back actually, but the old wheel I had wasn't working very well, and I don't like playing driving games with a joystick, so I didn't play it that much. Maybe it's time I get a new wheel and try it again (and reinstall Grand Prix Legends!! )

The thing I found cool about this game was that the keyboard was almost analog in terms of steering - I hadn't seen that before. You could also steer with the mouse if you had to. There's some great gamepads out there these days - this is probably a good reason for me to pick one of those up. I don't really have the room for a wheel.
