Oh.. I haven't found them yet.. I don't even have the game yet.. let's just say.. "I Know."

Does anybody know the 2 cards that are supposed to come with the game, and maybe the 5 that came with the Wally World version?

Corky Roxbury 10-22-03 02:09 PM

yeah the cards from the EBgames version were
Power-up card: Super Leaf
(Use the Super Leaf to turn Mario into Racoon Mario! With that tail, Racoon Mario can attack enemies or fly high into the sky!

Level card: Wild ride in the Sky
(Take a wild ride in the sky! Think you can nab all the coins? Not if Bullet Bill has anything to say about it!

GatorDeb 10-22-03 09:18 PM

I got it at Best Buy and also got Super Leaf and Wild Ride in the Sky. I think ALL copies of the game will come with the same two cards, I don't think that will vary by store.

I'm very happy that I can save up to 32 levels, that way I can play it without having the GBA Player around (I don't mind loading them at home).

So for the special level we're going to be sending the card around?! :)

GatorDeb 10-22-03 11:38 PM

Ok I feel like a maroon. I just spent $25 to add 10 levels to a $20 game that came with 90 levels :p

Wal-Mart - $15 included series 1 and 2 of the e-cards plus the Combos (Pizzeria flavor :o) and a Coke.

Best Buy - $10 combo GameCube-GBA to GBA link cable.

I got item cards 4-17 in the two packs, and item #3 came with the game. So I'm missing item cards 1 and 2.

I got level cards 1-10, but I got two different level ones - the one that came with the game and the one that came in the packs, so I got 11 level cards.

I got the following demo cards:

1-1, 1-2. 2-2, 3-2, 3-4, 3-8, 4-2, 5-5, 6-7, and 7-2. 10 total.

And I got two funky cards - blue green switch and orange switch.

Besides the Airstrip level and item cards 1 and 2, am I missing anything else?

I think $5 is a bit excessive to pass the Airstrip card around. I think $1 is more than enough (I think it should be free, but that's just me), with the card going back to the original owner. Each person pays the postage to send it to the next person since the person before paid for the postage to send it to them. If I get the card I'll start passing it around.

So what's the deal with the demo cards? Am I correct in that they are the same levels that are in the game? Why on earth would you want demo cards if you have the game? (and you need to have the game in order to use the cards ergo... :hscratch: ) -ohbfrank-

GatorDeb 10-22-03 11:43 PM

OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Demo cards are people who are good at the game showing you how to do stuff. Cool :D

GatorDeb 10-23-03 12:49 AM

Can somebody please help and post steps on how to get an e-Reader, GameCube, GBA, Link cable, Mario eCards, and SMB3 to work with each other? :(

Corky Roxbury 10-23-03 05:32 AM

gatordeb, so what do you get for $10 at BB the link cable plus the cards, I haven't gotten my e-reader, yet I may wait until the release series 3, because I would have to buy another GBA(or GBP) a link cable and a e-reader so over $100 to play 10 extra levels, and with the amount of Xbox LIve games coming in the next few weeks I don't have the money to waste but if they release series 3 and series 4, then I will get them

it tells you in the manual how to set it up to transfer files from the e-cards

PixyJunket 10-23-03 07:03 AM

Lucky for me I have all the gear.. I just need the game and cards. :)

GatorDeb 10-23-03 07:36 AM

And I misplaced the manuals, hence could someone let me know please :)

Here's how I got it to work:

Plug the e-Reader into the Game Boy Player (which is attached to your GameCube). Put the SMB3 cartridge in your GBA. Attach the link cable to the GBA and to the pass-through port on the front of the e-Reader. Turn both systems on. On the GC, use a controller to select communication to a GBA. Then, on SMB3, either press R while on a map screen (to load demo cards or item cards), or choose "Level Card" from the main menu and move Mario to the only panel on the map. Press A to bring up a level list. Press Up to select the Level Card option in the upper left corner of the screen. From this point, the screens will tell you what to do. Just press the A button on the GBA to start communication, and when the GC tells you to scan a level card, do so.

It seems pretty complicated, but once you scan your first card, it'll make sense. Feel free to reply to this post if you have any problems getting it to work.

GatorDeb 10-23-03 11:56 AM

Ok I have the e-reader on the GB Player on the GC and SMB3 on the GBASP. I have a link cable going from the e-reader to the GBASP. However it states that it cannot connect. The e-reader just sits there and the game shows Communication error.

PixyJunket 10-23-03 12:00 PM

Dur.

Hook the link cable into the GBA Player, not the e-reader!! The Link Port on the e-Reader is a pass-through port for the original GBA.. unless it plugs into the actual link port on the GBA Player, that won't work.

The e-Reader does in fact hook right into the link port of the GBA Player.

Hmm...without seeing the setup, it's hard to say what's wrong. Make sure you're at a location in SMB3 where you can load card data. If you want to scan demo or item data, go to any map screen, press the R button, then select the option you want and press A. If you want to scan a level card, choose "Level Card" at SMB3's main menu and move to the white panel, then press A to bring up the level list. Move up to the option in the upper left corner - I think it says Level Card - and then press A to select it. Try selecting the scan option you want in SMB3 before choosing "Send Data to GBA" on the e-Reader. If that doesn't work, reset both systems and try again. I know that the communication will time out if you wait too long, so make sure that isn't what's causing your error.

Gizmo 10-23-03 12:52 PM

Sorry if I missed this, but if you buy your game at Wal-Mart you get an additional 5 cards that you can not get anywhere else. So to help my OCD, I have to buy an extra copy at wal-mart! This now means I own three copies of the damn game (1 from wal-mart, 1 from my work, and 1 japanese version). doh!

PixyJunket 10-23-03 01:11 PM

Gizmo, all 5 cards are exclusive to Wal-Mart? :D

Man, I wish I wasn't so crappy feeling.. I really need to go get this. :(

Gizmo 10-23-03 01:15 PM

Pixy, yep, you actual get 7 cards (the 2 that come standard and 5 others ONLY available at Walmart).

That rocks!! I knew at least 1 of them was Wal-Mart only, but this solidies where my purchase where be made, as soon as I can gather the energy to go anywhere other than home and work.

GatorDeb 10-23-03 02:16 PM

This sucks :( Now I have to buy the game at Wal-Mart... sigh.

So far it's been $20 + $25 + $25 to get the game at Wal-Mart + $15 for another link cable (it seems the reason I can't connect is because only official link cables are supported... grr..... I got a MadKatz I believe).

So that's $85 so far.

I hate Nintendo :(

PixyJunket 10-23-03 02:34 PM

Aww *pat pat*.. you can sell your other copy on eBay, you only paid $20 for it, I'm sure you'll at least make that back.

AND..

I've said it a thousand times, I'll probably say it a thousand more:

"THIRD PARTY HARDWARE IS NOT WORTH THE $2-$3 YOU SAVE!!"

(there are exceptions, tho very few).

I believe you're thinking of the GBA-SP, where the link port is on the opposite site of the device from the game port.

GatorDeb 10-24-03 06:54 PM

Ok got it working with the official link cable. Color me pissed.

I found out that yes, you can save the levels onto the E-reader, but ONLY IF YOU BEAT THE LEVEL. If you can't beat the level it's not saved so if you turn the stuff off and on, yep, have to reload it if you want to play it. GRR  And my action replay won't work with these levels. This MAJORLY SUCKS :( :(

Argh.
