Confirmed!! Animal Crossing will STILL come with a memory card at $29.99!!

I sent an email to Nintendo yesterday and received this today!! I was a little worried that one wouldn't be included, thus making the price drop ineffective.. but here's the word from the big guys themselves!!

Hi!

Thank you for contacting us. You asked a very good question. Yes, a Memory Card will be included in the Player's Choice Animal Crossing. The only thing that changes is the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Effective 9/25/03, the new MSRP will be $29.95 U.S. / $49.95 Canadian.

Nintendo of America Inc.
I'm hoping I can find somebody selling it at the new price on Thursday.. I'm going to need something to pass the time over the weekend.

Target has been selling AC at this price for sometime now with the memory card. And in some cases with 2 memory cards if you can find the bundle package.

Yeah I know.. I called like every Target in the Dallas and Plano area and nobody had it in stock..

The only reason I was worried that the re-issue wouldn't come with it is I remember the PSone Greatest Hits line they really "cheapened" up the discs, and manuals, etc.. I'm not sure how Nintendo does it but better safe than sorry.

It's just a 59.. which is how much it needs for a save file on Animal Crossing.

Ah.. cool.

Gizmo, since you work at a game store (don't remember which one) maybe you can answer this: How good are your stores about updating price drops? I mean, if I went to EB Thursday would they still try to suck $50 out of me? I ask cause nobody but Gamestops and EBs have the damn thing in stock in all of Dallas.

Well, the price drop does go into effect on Thursday, so I'm guessing you'll be able to get it for that new price.

Pixy, decent chance. When I went to E3 and Sony (I think it was then) announced a price drop to $179, we changed the price that day. However, on software, it may take as long as a week to take effect (My store just lowered Unreal Championship and Dead or Alice 3 to $19.99 for Xbox). Electronics Botique may be faster since they are obviously bigger then mine, but I honestly don't think EB will drop the price until next Monday.

Also note, some stores only lower price on titles that have the Players Choice/Greatest Hits/Platitum hits logo on the case. Sounds stupid, but ive ran into it a few times at Game Strop and EB.

I'm hoping the price drop means fresh stock of the product too. They should be reissuing the product with the yellow Player's Choice band on the top of the packaging and restocking stores with that version. I have not seen a new copy of AC for sale ANYWHERE in local DC B&Ms. Come on Best Buy - lemme use my $5 coupon!

You guys shouldn't sweat it, they always come out with a new batch for new Players's Choice or Greatest Hits titles. Because they know that there will be new demand due to the price drop; otherwise, why even lower the price when the games are nowhere to be found?
