Viewtiful Joe fared quite well, it sounds awesome! Scored better than Jak II even. I've downloaded some movies of the more advanced levels and techniques and it rocks

Give me some details of that Jak 2 review please. It's one of my most-wanted titles and I thought it would be scoring in the higher range.

They must have not gotten a reviewable copy of the console version of TMNT in time, which doesn't bode well as when developers don't get them games on time they usually end up sucking as they were just trying to limit negative press before the games release. There are exception though, so it's a wait and see thing.
Looks like SMB 3 is all I want on that list. I was curious about Jak 2, but I'm not a huge fan of the original (still haven't finished it after picking it up last spring) and I was skeptical about them changing it to mostly a third person shooter (I'm a much bigger platformer fan).

i thought jak2 would score higher than that also the way it was previewed/hyped.
and D&D Heroes... was sort of looking forward to that while waiting for Baldur's Gate 2 (which i think will have a hideous cover if i remember correctly)

Someone gave DDRMax a 9.0, higher than what anyone gave Jak 2; it can't be all bad. Actually the scores for both seem OK as Risk rated an 8.0. Now Gameday, that's a game they really gave it to (and almost certainly deserved it).
Someone should have marked down the score of SMA4 just for including the same minigame as in the other three. It's not a bonus anymore, it's a burden.

Thus if you see straight 9's aross the board, you can take that as it being a game almost anyone will like.
If you see something like the scores with DDR, you can take it as being great for fans of the genre, but not nothing that's going to make someone who's not a fan of the particular type of gameplay change their mind.

What's D&D heroes and is it for the PS2 or GC?

I've played D&D Heroes a little bit. It looks and plays just like a BGDA clone with some enhancements. It seems pretty good, but you might be better off just waiting for BGDA2 if you played and liked the original. I would definately give it higher than a 6 though (unless the game just turns to suck later).

D&D Heroes was originally supposed to be on all 3 consoles and then was switched to an XBox exclusive. Don't know if they still plan a GC or PS2 release down the road.
I don't understand some of these developers doing XBox or GC exclusives, not that they are bad systems, they're great systems but when you have Sony that's sold more than 50 million PS2's and has an installed base of almost 20mil here in the U.S., wouldn't you want your games released on the PS2 as well? Any exclusive title that's been released on the XBox or GC would have easily sold more on the PS2. These Companies are only hurting themselves, IMO.
Anyways, as for D&D Heroes I belive it's similar to that of BG: Dark Alliance. It uses 3rd Edition D&D rules, you can play as a Fighter, Wizard, Cleric or Thief and it has 4-player Co-op. Apparently it didn't fair well, at least according to EGM.

My wife and I loved BGDA for the PS2, guess we'll wait for the sequel.

Exactly the reason why I thought Shenmue 2 sold so poorly, and because of that, the story might never be finished.
Pretty rough scores all around, but there is nothing wrong with that. I like having multiple opinions on a game. I prefer EGM's reviews over the trigger happy PSM and OPM, which gives high scores out to games like it was candy on Halloween.
What didn't they like about Starsky & Hutch? I know it's repetitive, but what were they expecting from a $20 game? Co-op mode is a lot of fun (1 person drives, 1 shoots)

Shenmue would sell poorly on any system. The original sold poorly on the DC as well.
It's simply a niche market, love hate, type of game that just doesn't fit american gamers tastes enough to ever sell well hear.

I'll repeat my request for some details about the Jak 2 reviews. Everything I've read about it so far has been gushing praise including this gushing review. Admittedly, these are the same idiots forever branded for claiming that the PS2 version of Splinter Cell was "in every way superior to the Xbox version"; but still, the game does sound great. What were the gripes that EGM had with the game?
