I feel the same way about most Xbox games. They are getting to be too involved. I don't have the time to learn what 20 buttons do in a game. I miss the old Atari 2600 one-button joystick. Haha!

I found that most GameCube games seem to be less complex and more "arcadey". Lately, I've been playing GC much more than my Xbox. The games are not only less complicated....but they are more fun in my opinion. Give them a try.

Mechassault is really simple and mindless (and can be found for $20 new at Blockbuster or can be found for trade here quite often).

I'd recommend a Gamecube as well. Great system.

As for Xbox games, I am new to the system as well, but my favorites so far are Simpsons Hit and Run, and Road Rage (both must owns for Simpsons fans, KOTOR (a must for any Star Wars fan), and ESPN hockey.

I haven't even tried Mech Assault yet, and it came with the system

Ghost Recon requires thought, but the missions are pretty straight forward.

The fighting games are pretty basic. Just mash a bunch of buttons and look what happens. I had fun playing Tao Feng and DOA 3, but I'm not really sure how well those stack up to other fighting games.

The Tony Hawk Pro skater games are lots of fun and aren't too hard to master. T-Hawk 3 can be found for pretty cheap. T-Hawk 4 is a bit more expensive and a little harder.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Where as I enjoy a good complex RPG most of the times I get sick of games just b/c they are too involved.

Some simpler games that I enjoyed a lot on Xbox are . . .

Kung Fu Chaos - The game is just fun in every way. Great, very detailed graphics. Very cartoony, child like animations. Everything is extermely detailed, there is tons of stuff to break & throw. In between boards there are mini-games that are very much like a throw back to simpler days of gaming but with super grapchics. The game would be hard for a 10 year old, but I play it while babysitting a 9 year old & he has more fun watching than I do playing.

Return to Castle Wolfestein - I'm not a big first person shooter fan but I dug this game a lot for Xbox. Very simple controls but it was a lot of fun to play.

I second Kung-Fu Chaos. It's simple, fun, and addicting. It can be found for about $30 new.

Maybe Midtown Madness 3? I hear it's fun online as a dumbed down party racer. Just bought mine and would love to kick your a$$ up and down the streets of Paris, tommy!

There's Namco Museum. Midway Arcade Collection is coming out in Nov. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a good beat-em-up (the first one, haven't played the second).
