I've never been able to catch them consistently. I believe I've only got two the entire time I've played. I keep getting stung, so I usually stick to the fossils and ocean fish for cash.

PixyJunket 10-02-03 04:54 PM

If you shake trees from the north side, they usually circle you one (sometimes twice) giving you a clear shot or two to net them.

TheMadMonk 10-02-03 09:25 PM

If I hate writing letters, and really don't care about decorating and paying for a virtual house, will this game offer me anything I will like?

PixyJunket 10-02-03 10:54 PM

 Ice Climber and Mario Bros. e-Cards!!

nickdawgy 10-02-03 10:55 PM

I always send them stuff and don't write letters, they get pissed but then wear the shirt or whatever anyway lol.

:D

tanman 10-03-03 09:53 AM

Are all of the Nintendo games orderable/tradable?

Cause I got Excitebike, Golf, Dk jr. Math and Balloon Fight.

PixyJunket 10-03-03 10:30 AM

The "common" games are orderable and tradeable. The games that you get only on the island, from the website, or from the e-cards are not.

So far I have these:

Donkey Kong (x2)
Balloon Fight
Tennis
Soccer (www.animal-crossing)
Excitebike
Pinball
Ice Climber (e-card)
Mario Bros (e-card)

dancinns 10-03-03 02:24 PM

Crap, I knew I should've stayed out of this thread. Now I'm going to have to play a little AC tonight and see how badly neglected my little town is. Hopefully some of the *******s have moved out. ;)

PixyJunket 10-03-03 02:31 PM

Muahahaha. I keep sending evil theving whore hippo hate mail but she doesn't seem to get the clue. :(

joeblow69 10-03-03 05:03 PM

Pixy, you still looking for Donkey Kong Jr? I can send you a copy of that one if you want. It's kind of funny, I haven't played AC is AGES, but this thread gave me the bug to go check it out again today. The first animal I talked to ask me if I've lost weight lately. Weird thing is, I did just recently lose 20 pounds! oooooooh, freaky...

PixyJunket 10-03-03 07:14 PM

Oooh.. freaky deaky.

Yes I am REALLY looking for Donkey Kong Jr, but it was one of the 4 games given away at www.animal-crossing.com I don't think you can trade it..

On the other hand.. marvel at these babies:

Just out of curiosity, how fine is the resolution on those e-Reader cards? I imagine somebody with a really expensive printer somewhere has attempted to make copies of those things. I don't plan on attempting it, but the thought has crossed my mind.

It'd be really nice if some place had complete sets available. I can't see myself buying a $39.99 e-Reader plus over a hundred dollars worth of card packs, with just a chance of getting something worthwhile.

jediwicz 10-05-03 10:15 AM

I just got the "Jumpman Mario", "Kirby", and "Hero's Tunic (Link) design cards. Now I look like Windwaker Link. I also just got the final two Nintendo Power Mario series items (wallpaper and carpet). Now my whole downstairs looks like Super Mario Bros. and my upstairs is now my "green" room.

PixyJunket 10-06-03 07:59 AM

I liked this so much I had to take a picture of it.. it was the best DJ setup I could make with what I had available.

Man thats great

Why oh why did I ever trade in this wonderful game? I still have my AC memory card, I should just re-buy the game. This thread has definetly given me the bug all over again

PixyJunket 10-06-03 09:12 AM

Hey, it's only $30 now.. :)

Oh yeah.. it was raining yesterday.. I can't wait to go home and find some more Gyroids.. I love those things!! The ones in my basement (pictured above) all make eerie, creepy sound.. works really good for basement, and I've got some percussians on the main floor where I've got K.K. D&B running on the Reel-to-Reel. They sound like part of the song!

Outlaw 10-06-03 12:31 PM

haha! Thats awesome! My basement was a mess for awhile, then I cleaned it up and organized a bit. I had some kk surf and turf (can't remember the name exactly) in my house, sort of a hip hop style music, it'd go good with that DJ setup. I may be wrong, but I think the gyroids do bounce and make noises in time with the song, which is kind of cool when you have some good ones. Your character looks way different from mine, kinda evil looking but still neat :).

Yup, the Gyroids do play in beat with any music you happen to be playing. Of course, you can still match Gyroids that don't sound good with certain songs.. one of my friend's has like 20 Gyroids in her place with no music and with that many they essentially create thier own song. About my character I think I caught the pic in mid-blink.. he's usually open eyed and with those rosy cheeks look girly. Whee!

I just grabbed this at the ONLY local BB that still had it in stock. DAMN this game is fun. Already spent 4 hours playing yesterday - felt like 15 min. I think I may be getting into a seriously disturbing adiction here....

Be sure to check out www.animal-crossing.com to get passwords for a free Starman decoration (which ROCKS) and a free NES game of Soccer.

Your statement of 4 hours feeling like 15 minutes hold VERY true for this game..

PixyJunket 10-06-03 01:26 PM

BTW.. what were the 2 free NES games that you got from your letter from Nintendo?

sdcrym 10-06-03 10:19 PM

Does anyone have gyroid paper? It's one of maybe three stationery types I don't have, and I plan to store all my gyroids in the post office in the letters.

Town: Spiketon
Name: Scott

Thanks

Sherbz 10-07-03 05:49 AM

I'm pretty sure I do; I'll check tonight and if so get a code for you.

I got Balloon Fight and Pinball. I am having problems hooking up my GBA though. I connected everything to the Player 4 jack and turned on the GBA at the dock and nothing happened. I'm beginning to think I have a bad cable - I have never been able to successfully hook up my GBA to my GC (Harry Potter didn't work either:().

PixyJunket 10-07-03 08:13 AM

I *know* I have the Gyroid paper, and since I owe ya one for thr fruit I'll hook ya up.. as long as somebody doesn't beat me to the bunch (seeing as I *just* got to work).

That sucks! Do you have the official cable or a 3rd party one? The linkup stuff is great, being able to take your NES games on the go is most excellent.. and the island game is pretty fun and rewards you with money and rare items. Hope you get everything working.

jediwicz 10-07-03 09:01 AM

The e-reader is also real useful in AC. You can change the town tune with K.K. music cards, get presents from critters (I usually refer to my animals as "food") and the design cards create awesome shirts, carpet, wallpaper and umbrellas. There are also mini-game cards that create passwords for rare items after winning and actual classic NES cards like Ice Climbers and Mario Bros.

PixyJunket 10-07-03 09:47 AM

Hmm.. do you mean the mini-games on the Boy and Girl cards? I only played with them a little bit but very interesting..

Nintendo cable... I may take it back to Best Buy and see if they'll let me exchange it. I doubt it without a receipt but worth a shot.

Sherbz 10-07-03 04:17 PM

I could be wrong, but it sounds like you are doing the same thing I did at first. You have to turn on the GBA and then walk into the dock acre, instead of just turning it on once you are by the dock (though it could be a defective cable if it isn't working with the other game).

PixyJunket 10-07-03 04:22 PM

Also, I have found out.. that if you have the e-Reader connected, you actually have to be at the Animal Crossing "Standing By" screen to be able to go to the island, having the GBA on and just at the e-Read title screen won't let Kapp'n appear.

BTW.. Kapp'n is the freakin' coolest character in this game.

Do all copies of Animal Crossing come with a memory card? I see it is fairly cheap at Gamestop.com, but it doesn't say if it has the memory or not.

I wouldn't trust it if it is used.

Just buy it at Best Buy for $25 with the coupon, that is if they have it in stock.

WORD! Thanks Sherbz! The GBA stuff is totally sweet! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to try out my new fishing rod. ;)

Yes, all *new* copies come with a memory card.

I'm gonna go freakin' nuts.. I've buried like 7 shovels in golden spots and they've all either died or stopped mid-growth.. :(

I feel your pain. I didn't have quite so much trouble, as I got the golden shovel on my second try, but I have planted several 30,000 bell trees that have met the same fate. Some have died, but some have flourished. Then some jackass moves in right next to the flourishing tree and stops its growth.
